Hello to All!
My name is Dawn & I was referred to this forum by Cheerio (Mary). I run a small horse rescue & sanctuary called Never-E-Nuff Acres in Waxahachie, Texas, just south of Dallas. It's a non-profit 501c3 charitable organization.
Mary is one of my most devoted volunteers. Currently we are caring for more than 40 head. (That's about 30 too many!)

My Avatar is a portrait of my horse Rohan in the Bleubonnets in front of our ranch. He's a former PMU foal that is now 7 years old & HUGE!!!

I was first introduced to Parelli many years ago. It gave me a wonderful foundation for understanding things from the horse's point of view & the ability to read body language. I never "passed" any Levels; that was not my goal. Perhaps it was at first, but I quickly realized that the PNH program is a money making business and my money was better spent on saving horses.

I never felt comfortable posting on the SC forum. It was tenaciously censored & micro-managed. The feeling here is one of openness & sharing.
I like it! Thanks for having me!!!

Hi Dawn!!!  So glad you joined the forum. It's a neat place, lots of knowledgeable people who are willing to share what they know.

And I love that picture of Rohan!

Hey Deb! Hey Nancy!
I recognized you both from the donations you made to help the orphaned baby donkey, Pebbles. Thank you so much for helping our baby girl!!!
This afternoon I went over to her new Mommy's house & got to give her her bottle. Or should I say bottle(s)! That girl is a piglet!!! So good to see her doing so well.
I will be posting some pics & a short video on the Rescue's FaceBook page later.

Hi Dawn!  Great to see you here!  Thanks for all the fantastic work you do, and I agree with whoever said your avatar looks just like a postcard.  How beautiful!

Thanks for the avatar compliments everyone!
I can only take partial credit for its creation though. I took the actual photograph of Rohan in the bluebonnets out in front of our ranch. Then I sent the photo to an artist named Nick Sokoloff who does, what he calls, Photo-Paintings. Hecreated the image you see. He does incredible work!
A HUGE 2'x3' gallery wrapped canvas of the final image hangs above my fireplace. I love just it! I always wanted to commission a painted portrait of my horse Rohan, but I like this even more, because while it has the painted quality to it, it really IS unmistakeably him!
Prints or canvases of Nick's work are available on his site in various sizes.
Even Rohan's portrait is available. Check it out!
