Hi friends,
I wasn't on the forum much at all last fall.
Was SO busy with school. School's a lot of fun, but it sucks up all my time!!
I'm planning to start spending some more time here.
I have two mares that I'm starting right now at the rescue that I am having a blast with.
Also have two geldings who we started over the sumer who I've been riding some. They are teaching me a lot as well.
I just wanted to say, though, how much I love this forum.
I joined a forum a month or so ago hoping to get so info about some of my newest (non-horse) pets. Wow. So much moderation and rudeness.
That really made me miss you guys and the community here.
Hopefully school will be less busy this semester, as I've missed chatting with all of you. _________________ ~Mary

This is Stella.
Registered AQHA mare.
I don't have any pictures riding her yet.
She's only really had about 3 rides so far.
We're working on moving forward in the round pen and a bit of steering. Haven't done a whole lot yet.
She is very mellow and laid back, so she should make an awesome horse for trail riding or light riding once she gets a few more miles under saddle.
Probably not any really hard riding or competitions, since she's 20.
But, she's really healthy, so she has at least a few good years of riding left in her.
Very nicely bred, it's a shame no one started her before now. _________________ ~Mary

This is Cheyenne, the other mare I've been starting.
There are more pictures of her here:
http://neverenuffacres.org/?p=473
5 year old chestnut paint mare.
She is a fire cracker!!
Very mellow, laid back, LB, but with a very low tolerance for things she doesn't understand.
She was adopted out at one point, but returned because she was too much horse for them. Part of her "problem" is that she is way smarter than the average horse person. _________________ ~Mary

Okay.
I'll post some at some point about what I've been doing lately with my rats and mice.
The 3 male mice are new-- I got them about a month ago.
The mice aren't very happy with me right now-- they all got neutered at the end of last week. _________________ ~Mary

LOL, bit.
I saw your thread about Hawk. Actually, I had seen something you had posted about him having a new home on Brent's yahoo group awhile back.
I'm sure that was a pretty hard decision for you. I know how much you love him and how much he has taught you. It sounds like he has a really awesome new home, though, and I'm really glad that you'll still get to visit him and keep up with him. _________________ ~Mary

Thanks Mary, yep he's got a sweet little situation, great humans, and lots of cow work in his future. There's always a lot going on there, so he's never real bored. Plus he's in a herd of about 15 horses, so lots of play time. Are ya done with school now? Amanda is BURIED this semester with 17 units, working in the lab, and an internship. I'm not going to see her much. Glad life is settling down and you are getting some time. I'm pretty happy I finally have plenty of the stuff these days. Come visit some time! _________________ "It was once said I should clear my head for one cannot ride a Thoroughbred. Hot they are. And too fast they be. Forever on the fly. So Mary...what are you training your mice and rats to do? I'm curious. I wouldn't think you could train mice to do much, but I understand rats are very smart. I used to have pet Kangaroo Rats. They were wild but become tame very quickly. But they are nocturnal and drive you nuts all night. _________________ Carol Nudell
