Check out this video of his Emotion Show with his mares and foals:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?feat...screen&NR=1&v=1SYKWG4HXQw
Watch at 3:11.
Look and see what the foal does on the outside, left side of the band. Perhaps this reveals an insight into how Lorenzo achieves what he does with his horses. _________________ Marty

Loved it. Thanks for posting. I imagine he pretty much lives with them as their herd leader.
Interesting how high-headed they move, especially in the second clip mentioned by Marty. _________________ Author of

He has to live with them. I watched Carol's and Marty's clips then another 10 min. clip of the emotion show? I am awestruck by the relationship he has with all these horses. He has to be in peak condition to do what he does. Just amazing., truly amazing!!!! And to bring the babies into the show just adds something that touches your heart:)http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HFupGrRCIqY&feature=related _________________ beth |

There have been a lot arguments on this forum and others about who is the best natural horseman but in terms of pure natural horsemanship, this guy has it all over the ones who are usually discussed, imo.

I have to agree with you Larry. I think something Marty points out has bearing on this. He does live with them and is part of the herd. The video with the babies shows him starting them as foals to move with him as herd leader. The bond is there from the beginning and he must be very good and very consistent, because he never breaks trust with them. Amazing.
Oh yes, the Roman riding is incredible. There used to be some comments that he used the reins to hang on with...but as we all can see, he doesn't need them - or use them for that. I think it would pull you out of balance to have a tight hold on all those reins. Now, how he does this is a mystery to me! I have a hard enough time staying upright on flat surfaces. I wanted to add that the night we saw the Cavalia show, the Roman rider there, who had pads on the horses to land on, fell doing the pole jump with his horses. He went down between the horses and got stepped on a few times - it was right in front of us - but got up and did the jump again, successfully. These guys are athletes too, so Lorenzo must have incredible balance. And how he does it with snowy boots, is beyond amazing. _________________ Carol Nudell

Did anyone else notice that foal do a hop just as the rest of the band took the jump? It was on the outside of the upright and not able to jump over the pole. It was also in front of the rest. As it approached the jump, it slowed so that everyone would be approaching that jump together. That foal actually hopped a split second before the leading mare took the jump. It appears to me that that foal knew to take that jump with everyone else...even if it was outside the upright.
IMO that is the key to the beauty, harmony and synchronicity of Lorenzo's work. He uses the horse's natural impulse to band together and move as one being. _________________ Marty
