In the Title, please put first which country the horse is in.   Second please put the location - state, province, county or city.   Third list if the horse is stolen, lost, a rescue, or needing a new home.

If possible, please post pictures of the horse, especially if lost or stolen.  People can't look for a horse if they don't know what it looks like.  The Internet saved Max, it can save others.

Finally, once the situation has been resolved, please come in and edit the title to say "RESOLVED" so that members can bypass the post.

I started this forum because a forum like this was recently started on a Paso Fino forum I am on.  It has saved over 50 horses in its first month.  I hope we can be that successful.

Sonya is the moderator of this forum.  I hope everyone checks this forum daily.

Thank you. It is an honor to be asked to share such info.  it's about the horse, the tack, the truck and the trailer.  So much is taken from the owner...but, I can deal with a lot of things.  Stealing a horse is like kidnapping your family member.

So I will be posting alerts here to update you.

I will, also, on occasion share some ideas given to me by Debi Metcalfe, with her permission, to help prevent thief.

This is not meant to be an negative thread, but an educational and helpful one.

Who knows, you might see a horse that belongs to someone.  I, certainly, want people like you as my friend...to be helpful to not only me , but each other.

We love our horses and we want the best for them.  And we want the best for those that, perhaps, their owners have not been able to keep them up.

So here we are...

I hope this is  a journey that you can join me in.  4-5 people can't do it alone forever....it has to be passed on.

Thanks,

Sonya

And while rescues are painful to us....let us not forget, that rescues are very important.

This little donkey, Lily, is adorable and missing:RESOLVED

http://www.netposse.com/stolenmissing/LillyDonkeyNHstolenFeb2010.html
USA; New Hampshire; New Ipswich; Hillsborough County.

And here are the currently listed as missing:

Farruco Recovered: RESOLVED

USA; Virginia; Boones Mill; Roanoke County.

Whiskers:

Sassy, is older now, and her previous owner wants to find out that she is okay:

USA; North Carolina; Lumberton; Robeson County.

Remember this is a volunteer organization.  Totally, non-profit run by Debi and Harold Metcalfe and a handful of volunteers.  They do seminars, go to big events like Equine Affaire, while helping the individual who files a report.  They are on Facebook, Twitter, etc.  Debi does not sleep much.

Many of the volunteers have been victims, more than once.

The other thing is being a victim makes people shut in at times.  Other stand up and volunteer because they want to fight it from happening and educate people.

Some victims get Post Traumatic Stress Syndrome and they just have a flood gate of emotions.  So when you see the face of the person smiling that they have recovered their horse...they go through a lot.  So do we.  There are after effects and not everyone can let things slide off.  And keep rolling.  But, organizations that have individuals who work together for the greater good, take care of each other.

So look at these horses and maybe we can get them back.  Fliers and getting the word out is great.

People dye their coats.  So don't forget that sort of thing.  And thanks.

Sonya

Closure to this one.  Lily was found drowned in a river.  But, the owners do have closure.

Seven horses were stolen 2/17/08. Three recovered immediately. One is being held on a case pending.  Cruiser is home after being found at the auction.
One was recovered 4/2/10 at a Shipshewanna Auction.
Two are still out there.
