Men approached, no arrests made after trying to pawn SEVERAL saddles, bridles, etc.
If they are caught with the items....why did they not arrest them??

ATLANTA -- A horse therapy program is hoping to rebuild, after thieves get away with tens of thousands of dollars of their equipment.

"For us to suddenly not be able to be there for them in the way we usually are, can really be a setback," said Lissa Corcoran.

Lissa Corcoran is more upset about the impact this robbery will have on the children she helps every day.

Corcoran is the founder of Flying Change, a non-profit that provides horse therapy for at risk kids in Metro-Atlanta.

"Often it's children who have experienced abuse or loss.

Sometimes children with depression, eating disorders, self esteem issues," she said.

But thieves got away this week with most of the equipment they need for training.

"We came back on Tuesday and I noticed that everything was gone," Corcoran said.

Using the barn's own wheelbarrow to cart away the saddles, blankets, halters and lead ropes, adding up to about $20,000 worth of stolen gear.

No gear means cancelled lessons.

"We've had kids who have cried and who have been afraid and felt sad, a lot of disbelief especially from the teenagers at the idea that somebody would come in and take things from us," she added.

A lesson that's taught the very opposite of what Lissa and her team have been trying to teach their kids.

"I think the biggest challenge is for children who have been wounded, being able to trust people around them is really important," Corcoran said. "The experience of knowing that someone stole things from us is harmful to them."

The non-profit hopes that the items will be recovered, or they will receive donations to be able to purchase new equipment.
