These two horses were recovered in Wyoming...the person who bought one of them thought it looked too nice to not be a stolen horse? Thank goodness a tenacious individual kept searching and found both of them via the internet.
Amazing.
edit:
Michelle, who is in charge of our Yahoo List Group communications made
contact with Priscilla yesterday morning while executing her volunteer duty for
NetPosse.com. As a result of that contact Priscilla went to the
netposse.com website to look up a horse she owned to see if it may be stolen. She
found him listed in AZ along with the horse that came to WY with him.
I have talked with Michelle, Priscilla and Breanne and all are happy
ecstatic about the discovery of these horses yesterday. We hope to have more
information coming soon. _________________ A Good Apple Pie. II Corinthians 4:16-18 |

USA, Salt Lake City, Utah, Salt Lake County: DECEASED, not pretty to read.
This is a case where the black market has butchered a horse...so who might not want to read this one.

NetPosse.com News Brief UT: Investigators probing whether pet horse was
killed for meat
Published: Saturday, Nov. 6, 2010 12:32 a.m. MDT

(http://www.deseretn ews.com/site/ staff/3180/ Anne-Forester. html) , Deseret News
SALT LAKE CITY — Investigators are trying to figure out who would not just
kill a horse, but then butcher it as well.
Police were called Wednesday to a field near 5600 West and California
Avenue to investigate a report of a horse being killed and butchered.
Owner Jennifer Carrillo told KSL that Snap, a 6-year-old American
Saddlebred, appeared to have at least one gunshot wound, along with portions of its
body cut off in a manner consistent with butchering for meat.
"I can't believe how somebody could kill somebody's animal, and not only
that, but treat them as meat and take parts of them away in order to
consume," Carrillo said.
American Dog Rescue is offering a $2,500 reward in the case, and donor
matching has brought that reward up to $5,000.
"We believe it went into the black market," said Scotlund Haisley, a
spokesman for the group. "There is a huge black market for horse meat."
The group is hoping for information that leads to an arrest and a
conviction, and it is willing to sponsor a necropsy to determine Snap's cause of
death. At the scene, blood stains stretched 100 square feet around the horse's
body, indicating it suffered greatly.
"It does not appear that the horse immediately went down," said Sgt. Zach
Todd of Salt Lake County Animal Services. "It is not acceptable to kill a
horse in this manner, and we are dedicating the resources necessary to
investigate this case."
The loss of Carrillo's horse was made more painful by the knowledge that a
last-minute change of plans made the difference between life and death for
Snap. She told KSL she was planning to remove him from the field where he
was killed the day of the attack, but because of other engagements that kept
her later than expected, she decided to wait until the next day.
"I know that there's no way that I could have known that that was the day
somebody would decide to go in there and shoot him and butcher him," she
said, adding, "That bothers me to think that I came that close to saving his
life."
Anyone with information about the case is asked to call the Unified Police
Department at 801-468-3000 or Salt Lake County Animal Services at
801-559-1100.

Jack, bay Missouri Fox Trotter gelding, missing after arriving in new pasture. We had just brought Jack home the previous day. He's a rescue we bought from a lady 2 hours away. We took him out for a walk on our place, took the lead off and left him eating grass while we checked fence for 5 minutes. When we came back, he was gone. Okay, so he's at the barn...no. Got out the Truckster and searched our 100 acres for an hour...no Jack. Went next door and the neighbor says "OH yeah, he came up the hill through our yard hollering and took off up the trail." He must have got spooked when he lost sight of us and headed up the hill toward the neighbor's place when he heard voices. He either pushed through the fence or jumped it.
