This is a general note to everyone.  I frequently have to PM people about the size of their avatar pictures or signature pictures being too large.   While they may look fine on your computer monitor, on other monitors they distort the viewable screen, and so on every page that you post to, people have to scroll back and forth to read each line of text.  This makes the forum a lot of unnecessary work.

I'm not sure what the max size should be, but I've found that avatars should not be wider then 150 pixels to not distort the left column.

Signature pictures need to be smaller.  I'm not sure what size will fit on everyone's screen, but let us start with a limit of 800 pixels wide max and see how that goes.   The same width should be applied to any picture really, but regular pictures only distort the page they are on.  Signature pictures distort every page.

If everyone cooperates then I don't have to PM people all the time.

regarding resizing photos, I am happy to do it for anyone who doesn't have the knowledge or software to achieve it themselves. It only takes me a minute to edit, resize & upload a photo that you email to me. I have an avatar template worked out. I bought myself Total Photoshop 9 for my birthday & I am still learning it but I'm sure there are all sorts of amazing things in there!

I know Carol said she will do it but maybe she is too busy sometimes.

Thank you for this reminder, Carol.

I read the forum on my laptop, which has a smaller screen.

In the past I've sometimes skipped threads because it is such a pain to have to scroll back and forth.

Carol. Mine is probably too big but I didn't know how to resize it.  Anybody can go ahead and do it if they want to.

Wanda, height is not a problem, only width is.  And besides, we LOVE Kitt.  He should be my wallpaper!

Good cause I like my pic too.    but I really didn't mean for it to be sooo big.    As long as it is not a problem I'll keep it

Hi Carol,
I am having my girlfriend design a signature for me with pictures of my new horse Dylan and wanted to double check that the width limit is 800 before I have her do anything. I know you originally said 800 but didn't know if some people had experimented with that size yet or not and if it was appropriate to go by. Thanks!

Emili, 800 should be fine.  Wider is probably fine, but I don't know for sure how much wider.
