Who is watching this show and who did you vote for? I personally am smitten with the bald face paint mare that Rita is riding. You can watch the two episodes that have aired for free on:

the first episode has no actual competition; that begins in episode two. Episode one is mostly talking about what the challenge is. You wouldn't be missing much if you began with episode two. (see the bar across the top of the linked page for the second episode)

I wish I could get the 'read my bio' links to work on the actha page; I'd love to read more about each horse and rider team! I like how we are supposed to vote for our FAVORITE horse; not the BEST horse or the best or favorite RIDER!

That is kind of why I bowed out. If it was a trail class competition with a regular judge I'd probably gone the distance for the chance to win it. But "America votes" for the prettiest horse or rider, not necessarily the best.

OH yeah..and I quit ACTHA after their BS about Treeless saddles. I don't care for an organization that arbitrarily changes rules or makes them up to benefit their sponsors. I think that's very inappropriate.

Oh I don't know much about that. I did hear that they had first posted some rule about not using treeless saddles, but they almost immediately retracted it. I haven't followed up. I am not a member and probably won't become one. But, I AM watching the show and was wondering if anybody else was and who they liked! And with all the competition, I LIKE that its only based on your personal feeling, not on every little thing they do right or wrong necessarily. I'm curious how it all unfolds. I also really liked the last horse, with the english rider; the horse was so good at everything and so willing. But since we are going on favorite, I picked the baldface paint mare that was so calm and willing.

I liked Erica Tanny quite a bit. She's a friend, older as is her horse. He was that big, white, quiet guy. The girl I rode up to Iowa with is in Episode six with her horse, Petey.
Carol, they retracted the treeless thang right away. Mostly I think because so many of us rode treeless and threatened to mutiny. Lots of political, high school like stuff with actha. I cancelled my membership and won't be rejoining.
Do enjoy watching folks ride their horses. Still looking for my thang to do with my horse. actha just ain't it.

I was one of those who mutinied as did everyone around here. So many quit they had to cancel our Ride for the Mustangs. When I quit I found they hadn't refunded me for my entry ($149) and that everyone is automatically charged on your credit card for new memberships each year unless you specify they don't.

They also had a rule against bitless bridles and hackamores except "name brand"..the later was added to appease Parelli's. Not sure if it is still a rule or not. What a bunch of BS. Even the articles in the magazine are mostly infomercials for their sponsors now. They pretty much lost all credibility.

I have a friend from Oregon in the finals, Dee Meyer. She'll be riding her Paso Fino. She routinely wins or places highly in the huge Oregon Trail Class competition they have there each year. If I watched the show, she is probably who I'd vote for.

that's too bad because the whole idea of actha is a good idea. oh well, everything can't be perfect!
