I have been reading the Tao of Equiss. Can't say enough about that book. The author talks a bit about honesty with your horse. Horses don't like it, especially those abused, introverted, fearful horses, or the ones that appear aloof, like Eclipse???? Hate it when you come out to the pasture with a happy face, when inside you are afraid, stressed, angry, frustrated...they will mirrior that part of you. Some won't even let you approach when you are in that state of mind. They will actually amplify it within themselves.
Yesterday I confessed to Ecipse that I was feeling worried and stressed. I loved my life, I knew Tony loved me more than his own life, but what if he got rid of me? What then? Three horses, my daughter on the way here to go to school, Kelsey is on the way with her three horses, what if? What if this lovely life just dissapeared? What if he doesn't marry me after all? What would become of us all? She felt the same way.
Remember I had her up for sale this winter? Well, she knew. Course she did because I told her I knew she wasn't especially attached to me, and I would try to find her a human that she would feel comfortable giving herself to. Well, it wasn't that she didn't want me, it was that she knew her time here was uncertain. She knew.
Man, was I floored. I mean, I shared my fears with her and she shot right back at me, ME TOO! She loves this life, the herd, me, but what becomes of her when I get rid of her? I stopped, took a breath and told her...
"I'm sorry. I thought you were unhappy. I promise, this is your forever home. You will live the rest of your life right here. I promise." It's been somewhat of a turning point for us. I'm not sure she intirely trusts she is safe. I'm not sure I intirely trust I am safe, either. I guess for now, we share a little fear of what tomorrow might bring. I reminded her of being in the now. That's what we have, so lets stay here and know for this moment in time, we are both safe. That's more honest, and that seemed to be a better deal for her. She believed me when I could promise her right now, we are safe.
So, what are you really feeling? What might you share with your horse, because that smile you are wearing is just a mask so that no one really knows what's going on inside? Are you starting the whr's, and not feeling comfortable with an hour of no thinking? Feeling frustrated about your job, your partner, money? Scared? Tired? Share with your horse. They may not understand the words, but they will understand what you are feeliing. It helps. Talk to them. Even cry, if you need to. You can go there with them, because they won't tell another soul. It means alot.

I'm a little in shock. Tony just called, asked me to come out to the shop. I walked out, he got down on one knee and proposed. Had to help him up. lol! Can't talk. No words. Like I said, in shock. Oh, yeah, I said yes. He was crying when he asked. Jeeze.

I just finished "Riding Between the Worlds" by the same author of Taos of Equis. If you haven't read it, put it on your list. I had to apparently read it first because of what was going on with Mis & I. Obviously Tony loves you but don't you think maybe you have to go through this so that you learn & grow? I know I went through a mess before Mis grabbed me strong enough to jerk me into learning MODE.

I'm about to begin reading the Tao of Equs.

I think the word is incongruent you are talking about in the book.
When we feel one way on the inside and act another way on the outside, the prey animal can see right thru us. Their very life depends on this instinct. So whatever you feel, be real with your horse. If you are sad, cry. They will comfort you. If you are tired and crabby, be tired and crabby, they will give you your space. If you are thrilled to see them, smile and embrace them, they will embrace you. etc.
I have just finished a book call "From the heart of horses" that you gave me for Christmas

and the author used horses as a form of physco-therapy for people who needed emotional healing/spiritual and physical healing as well. Whenever the person finally acknowledged their true feeling and expressed them honestly the horse approached them and placed their nose on whatever area of their body the person was concentrating on. Horses are truly our teachers. I love them so much and am so happy to have them in my life !

Thanks you guys! Love the getting married part, but the wedding thang, ugh. I've done the wedding thing and it just isn't that important to me. My daughter? She's acting like Alice in the Twilight series. arg. I think she's practicing for HER wedding, and I'm a big, OLD, Barbie doll to her. Ok kid, I'm thinking honeymoon, vacation, not white dress and twinkle lights. Tony and I are thinking about going to Costa Rica, him taking a day to do a 6 hour motorcycle tour, and me? Well, ya'll have probably already guessed. I'll be on a horse. We'll both come back together at the end of the day, sore bottoms and hungry as hell. I'm not that 22 year old bride. I'm the 57 year old bride that misses her horses. We are thinking Feb, because it sucks to ride that time of year, here. lol! I'm usually in the indoor arena, so might as well be somewhere warm, but not too long. I am having a tough time thinking about leaving home. Justice of the peace is just fine with me. Tony said he'd buy a new pair of overalls. Hey, white dress or new riding pants? I mean, please!

You're probably going to laugh but...

I always wanted to do a 'come as you are' surprise wedding. I've a good friend who's future bride's family were just wrecking the whole wedding-thing for her. I told my friend about the come-as-you-are thing & that I thought it'd be fun. I helped them pull it off. We lied our butts off to get some folks to the park at the right time but I've never had so much fun in my life!

The bride had a pretty dress with flowers in her hair. The groom was in new jeans & a nice shirt. Everyone else was in whatever they were wearing when they were called with the big emergency. We had everything from farmers in overalls to girls in cutoffs & bikini tops, painters... you name it. Jack's mother was in curlers. She'll probably ax me one of these days if the photos ever get out of her taking the curlers out of her hair while the bride rode in on one of my horses. It was cute & fun & by party time everyone was laughing & having so much fun they forgot how ticked they were at us for our tactics.

We had picnic fixins for the 'reception'. Someone had the idea to pass a hat for drinks & the local grocery store owner found out what we did & thought it was so fun he donated a bunch of stuff so the whole wedding/reception cost about $100 TOTAL

It's still one of the best parties I've ever been to!

Awwww!!! See............. I'm not on the computer for like - forever and first I read there is a new baby in the family and now you are getting what your heart desires and now we will have a wedding!!!! I'm NEVER being away from this home this long, ever ever again!

Congrats Deb - that sure is fast work on the LOA thing!! Haha!! And, if you want the big wedding to make your daughter happy - so be it, if you don't want the big wedding - so be it. Everything is as it should be! Everything will be just as it should be, for you and yours. Be sure to keep us updated though, it's a girly thing and your story makes me feel all gushy inside!!!
