Bruiser and I are in AZ nowHi guys! It's been a crazy year and I have been away from the forum for too long (I've had a job that was taking way too much time away from my horse activities). I'm bursting with anticipation because I am currently interviewing with EasyCare Inc., maker of easy boots! I have already had two interviews and will be doing a FaceTime interview with Garrett Ford, (the owner!) on Friday. It's always been my dream to move west after graduating and it looks like a year after graduation that dream may come true sooner than I had expected. I'll keep you guys posted and am looking forward to spending some more time on the forum.

Hey, not just that, but we'll ALL have a direct line in to the latest products and changes (they don't just sell boots too!).
Jumping for JOY here!

Oh I think they already think you are wonderful...wonderfully opinionated but wonderful none the less.
Thanks everyone for all the support. I'm generally not one to think things are "meant to be" but as I continue on this path, they sure seem to be falling into place. I met someone via the Savvy Locator that may be able to house me and my animals! They are right down the street from EasyCare and her property backs up to Catalina State Park. http://www.pr.state.az.us/parks/cata/facilities.html

I that website! They have a multi-use trail system through the city and some pretty cool looking parks, including a dog park. I am flying out this Saturday and will be in Madera Canyon until Monday. Then I am going to explose Tucson and look into housing. On Wednesday I get to meet with the EasyCare staff and fingers crossed I get an offer!

Congrats in advance, Alayna! It sounds like everything is falling into place for you.
I wouldn't mind if you put a bug in their ear about boots to fit donkeys! The Boa boots I just got today don't fit the shape of her foot - not "tall" enough, but those were the only ones remotely small enough for her hoof.

I've had a wonderful time in Southern Arizona and wanted to share some of the photos from my trip. I still have a few more I need to upload but these are my favorites so far.

When do you find out? I really like that area. When Tony and I win the lottery, we plan on Az for the winter months. Even when it's hot, it's not that miserable, humid hot we get here. Very pretty place. Good luck! I bet Bruiser would love it there.

Good Luck! We moved from Catalina/Oro Valley a few years ago but still own a house there (available for rent ) . I LOVED being able to go right to the source to buy my boots and stuff from Easy Care.
There's hours and hours of trails thru the park - just be careful of the "jumping cactus" it's wicked!
I hope you get the job and love AZ. I didn't and was so happy to come "home" to green stuff.

I rode in Catalina all winter, will take you on some great trails Alayna. Where the heck did you find water? Does Catalina have running water due to all the rain? Maybe I'll go riding there tomorrow, are you still in town? I can bring an extra horse.
Can't wait to have you out here!

Thanks eveyone, more details to come! Kim, the water was in Madera Canyon, such an awesome place. That being said, the couple I'm living with got 3 big storms yesterday and there just might be water in Catalina after that. Unfortunately I'm back in GA now but will be out soon enough and can't wait to have you show me some trail!

would be great if easy care was an actha sponsor. Those Cavalo's suck, sez Eclipse! Maybe they can offer a good price to actha folks, and sponsor the national winners? Good way to get some good advertising.

Well after 2 days of travel we are in Clinton, OK and are half way to Tucson. Yesterday a truck through up a rock which hit and cracked the windshield, ugh . Had it replaced this morning in Brinkley, AR (where we stayed last night). So far the horses are doing well, of course I wish they drank more yesterday but I'm soaking their feed with electrolytes and expect they will drink more tonight. Cal seems a little subdued. The longest trip he's ever been on was 8 hours but it was just one day. He was NOT amused when I asked him to get on the trailer this am. In contrast, Bruiser is in great spirits; he seems thrilled to have a traveling companion on this (his second) cross country trip. He's been eating plenty of hay on the road and when I took them off for a break yesterday and today, he peed both times. What a smart boy!

Traveling well..... at least the horses seem to be. Hope that the windshield is the worst of it. Let us know when you are settled in.......safely!

Glad to hear they are traveling well. Bruiser will be an old hand at this long distance stuff in no time! LOL That's good...Red Canyon is about 9 hours from Tucson I think! LOL
When you get to Oro Valley call a windshield place..they usually are entirely covered by your insurance and don't cost you anything. They even come to your house or place of employment and do it in the parking lot.
Drive safe today...can't wait for the update.

Well we made it! Yesterday I went hiking with my parents in Madera Canyon and got a picture of an adult version of the lizard I posted previosuly.
Friday the horses met over the fence. Cecilia's peruvian, Gus and Bruiser had to show off to each other.

Today I went on my first trail ride, right out the back gate...it was awesome. We saw a ton of jack rabbits and lots of flowering barrel cacti.
During our ride, Gus kept Bruiser company and they were fairly quiet when we put them together. At first Cecilia put Gus in with a halter which Bruiser quickly tried to grab hold of. After she took it off though there wasn't too much fuss. When we returned and started untacking, they decided to put on a show and Bruiser had much less bravado now that there was not a fence to protect him.

I still need to get some pictures of the house and the Catalina Mountains that are my back yard. Oh and tomorrow's my first day of work!

Oh, so nice to see my baby again! He's looking good. I quite liked the second video...neither horse is brave enough to get hurt. Too funny. I'm glad that he is with Peruvians. I think it will help both of you get him gaiting.
