Brushes

I swore I would never buy a brush that cost more than a couple of bucks. So I decided to buy my mom a nice Oster mane and tail brush for Christmas.I got back to the barn and thought I'll try it "once" to see how it works.MISTAKE!!!I could not put it down! That thing works so smoothly it's just crazy.Never did I think a brush that cost $12 would be worth it.WRONG LOL.

I will now return to TSC and buy 2 of ever Oster brush    One for me and one for mom.

Just had to share that

ROFL Jody...I have three of them!  One in the trailer, one in the indoor and one in the outdoor.   I DO MANES AND TAILS here, so it is a real time saver...and arm saver.

Now...should I tell you about my ergonomic hoof picks?

(PS...not the Oster brand...I actually found these after using my pocketknife hoof pick for ages because it was so much easier on my hands and arms)

I love my Oster brushes, specially the mane and tail brush!!  It is awesome!

It looks a lot like those knobby headed hair brushes for dogs and people.  The difference is that the teeth are part of the head so it is really hardy.  This brush and some spray on mineral oil/mouthwash, and I have not cut a knot out in years...

love mine too.  i am the same way....CHEAP.....i tried my friends and nearly stole it....so i figured i better buy my own.  like carol, with a little bit of  showsheen....i can get an entire tail knot (one that is so big it is the whole tail in one big knot) and never have to cut a single strand of hair.  just so ya know....i do rescue....they come that way.   but as long as there is no blood i can get a big one gone in less than an hour. blood/poop/urine knots can take a bit longer....but i cant imagine ever doing it without this brush again.  never.  no more tired aching wrists.....love it.

maybe we should get together and make a comercial

I just love my Oster mane and tail brush.  Bought one of their other brushes.  Hated it.  Gave it away.

I looked at the cheaper body brushes and was amazed that the Oster brand was cheaper the cheap brand. The cheap wooden brush was like $10 and the Oster was $8 and change.

I asked about Oster brushes at a tack shop yesterday. Well, you should have heard the response. Loud and clear from about 4 people, "They're awesome, They're the best. I love them."  So, I now have a mane and tail brush. Will try it with my favorite detangler Equus Survivor. Has anyone ever used that? it smells wonderful. It's 10 degrees in the sun here today. I'll not be messing with detangler and bare hands.

Sandra, where do you live?
sandra smith

Beth I live in Waldo Maine about 7 miles off the coast.
You know the old joke  "Where's Waldo?"  well, that's where I am. Still too cold and too much to do so close to Christmas , that I haven't  tried the Oster brush. Tomorrow.Maybe.

You gotta try their version of the curry comb.  Work great for shedding season, easy to hold on to, great even in sensitive spots and over bony spots.  When I foun it, I gave one to all my horsey friends in their Christmas baskets

I said off the coast, that sounds as if I live on an island.    I mean 7 miles in land.
Oh my!! Now I have to have an Oster ccurry. Will do.

I haven't used any sort of spray yet on manes or tails and Patches tail was like dred locks(sp?)when I started.

Sandra, Waldo, I can remember that, we have all the books:)

I've tried the Oster mane brush but I still like to do Sasha's mane just with a regular stiff body brush. I take out way less mane and tail that way. But I can see for those who have really hairy horses or knotty ones that the oster mane and tail brush would be a godsend.

I don't have the Oster brand curry that has the handle, but two similar rubber curries, and yes they are totally the bomb. Horse.com sells them for like $3 each.
