Calatar Left FrontSo this is Cal's most challenging foot and I wanted to get you all's opinion. The pictures on the left is the last professional trim he had in April and the one on the right was done by me today. For the last two months I have really been staying after the infection in his central sulcus and it seems to be opening up, not as deep, and overall healthier. I know he has some separation but overall I feel like we are making improvement.

How long had the pro been trimming him?
You actually are close enough I could come see him in person.

She had been trimming him for around seven months. She would take off a ton of frog...I thought it was excessive. I have just been removing flaps and trying to keep the central sulcus open, and treating with ACV and Pete's goo. I know sugar is a problem...can't do anything about that at the moment.
Here was a trim in January...

he is improving so that is good.
Just let me know if you want some tips to move things along...you know where to find me!

Definitely, we *will* go on a trail ride sometime and I'll have you take a look at them then.
His heels are further back...this is good right? Not sure about the bars though, I think my pro was kind of a "don't trim the bars" kind of person. I have been trying to trim them a la James Welz. Just not sure how it is doing for Calatar. With Eclipse I have noticed a difference and he seems to be putting out much stronger bar that is better defined.

Neat!
I love to see the improvements. His frog is opening nicely and his heels are further back like you said, I can see big differences there.
NO fair! I want to go on the trail ride too!

can you get a shot of the heels? not JUST the heels but heel across the sole so I can see the bars a little bit?
Also a shot across the quarters? Like the side of the hoof with the sole up showing the concavity? Also being able to get a sneak of the bars.
There are 3 things I see that will help but I need those shots first.

Leah, I will be out at the barn again this weekend and will get the shots then.
