Carol the PasoBabyI had most of this on the Paso Fino thread at Parelli SC, but not everyone looks there.
I live in Erda, Utah, have 7 Paso Finos and a Peruvian/QH love child. I've had Paso Finos for 23 years now and am finally able to fully enjoy them. I retired from the U.S. Army Civil Service in March 2006, so I could enjoy my horses more. I also train part-time and both buy, train and sell "project horses" and take in outside horses. I train horses for family pleasure and trail riding, using primarily Parelli methods, with a lot of PF training modifications. :D
I've had horses since I was 9, and ridden regularly since I was 4. I grew up in 4-H (GREAT PROGRAM!!!) and did horse shows and rodeo as teenager and was a 4-H judge for several years. I moved to a ranch in my teens and have to say, those are my very favorite years before career and college cut into my riding. There is nothing that compares to riding a horse that LOVES to cut cows!!
My current herd consists of:
Baby (Sorpressa Bonanza) who was an orphan that I hand-raised. Baby is semi-retired due to an injured leg. I use her as a lesson horse for kids. She is where they username "PasoBaby" comes from.
Trooper (Soldado) was my second Paso Fino, he was a door prize and I won him when he was one month old and picked him up when he was weaned. I put him with Baby and the rest is history. He's a very gentle clown who is also used for lessons.
My next Paso Fino, Dibalo DeLaMar I purchased for showing. He's very showy, but has an inconsistent gait. He does have an incredible canter and loves to spin and do roll-backs, so I turned him into a Reining horse.
When I got Diablo, I was given Santiago. Santiago is an easy-going and easy gaited guy, and loved to trail ride and largo his big heart out. He was my husband's horse and the two had a great time together. I lost Santiago at the beginning of November. He took two different people through their Level 1 course.
Zar (Zarzamora del Reino) is my Favorito daughter. I bought her when she needed a new home. She is my No. 1 trail horse and also who I passed Level 1 on. She's a multiple Bella Forma champion, and is much happier going down the trails then just about anything else.
Rosie (Rosiera de Fe) I purchased as Zar's eventual replacement as my main riding horse. Rosie grew up in "Parelli Playschool" and passed Level 2 in 2007. She shows, does Parelli and Trail Rides. She's a little sweetheart.
Buddy (Sosegado Illumininoso) was purchased as a yearling who needed a new home. He is one of the last offspring from Vivaracho Magnifico, a West Coast Performance Champion. He has a BIG stride, lots of energy and grew into a 15.2 hh giant. He's one of my project horses and goes under saddle this spring (delayed two years due to an injury to him in 07 and surgery on me in 0 .
Bien (La Bien Paga de Casta) was a gift from a friend so we would have a good example of a Performance horse in northern Utah. Bien is a very sweet mare who loves attention and follows you around. But dynamite under the saddle!
And a video: http://www.onetruemedia.com/share...ource=otm&utm_medium=text_url
And last, but not least, Coronado (aka Bruiser). Is my Peruvian/QH "love child." He'll be three in May, inherited the hair gene and will be stunning!
There are many videos of him on this site. This is one of my favorites!

I am also the President of our local chapter of Back Country Horsemen of Utah. I spend my spring, summers and falls trail riding and working on trail projects. There is a nice group of women here that I ride and do playdays with regularly.
I am hoping to relocate to northern New Mexico this summer. Utah's air pollution keeps me housebound much of the winter.

Wow Carol!! That's quite impressive.
I feel somewhat inadequate now. Still haven't been able to bring myself to write an intro, and after reading yours and the others, it might be a while. Although it would be short and easy to read.
Something like....HELP
There truly are some wonderful introductions here and it's so nice to be able to feel like I know everyone a little bit better.
Very cool!!

Carol thank you so much for starting this forum. I am glad to be able to come here and still stay in touch with you. I know we never really talked to one another on the other forum, but I read your posts and I always enjoy seeing videos of Bruiser and seeing pictures of your beautiful horses. Thanks again for starting this forum, you are the best!!

Thanks for creating this Forum :)Seems like my story is very similar to many..
Love horses as far back as I can remember. Couldn't have my own but, took lessons, volunteered, did anything I could do to be around horses. Time passed....
On mY 39th birthday the "horse bug" came back with a vengeance. I began to lease a 20 something ex-roping quarter horse (lbi). I began to do parelli with him and made some great progress.
A year ago I bought an Akhal-teke, appaloosa cross gelding. He came with a lot of baggage!!!! He has truly sharpened my horse womanship skills. My progress seems slow at times but looking over the past year His progress is truly amazing. My biggest issue is confidence as somewhere between riding any horse I could and getting my own I became a bit of a chicken !!
I tend to be a lurker and not post very often. I have learned a ton from many of the regular posters. I gained much insight into learning to motivate my extremely dominant, exuberant and willfull boy!!
Thanks everyone!!!

I'm sure that would help others, if you went by CarolT, I could switch mine to CarolU (the U is for Utah). I use it on other boards and am used to it.
Julie, please join us on the LBE thread. Many 'naughty' horses there. LOL

Beautiful horses Carol. Love the videos. I can't believe Bruiser will be 3 this year. He looks like he has a lot of fun! I remember seeing the video when you first posted it on the SC.
I just wanted to say thanks as well Carol for starting this forum. It's great and couldn't have happened at a better time. Loving the information that is being shared and it is soooo good to have a place to actually share advice ! I feel that is a necessary part of the PNH journey that is so often missed.
It's funny, when I was first invited, I thought that it would be great to go to a forum and not have to read pages of posts since last time you visited...hmmm...how interesting...logged on today and there was two pages!!!!!! Glad it's a slow night at work!!! :smt041 Not complaining though...it's great to see it grow!
