Critique my horses gait

Here we go.... I know next to nothing about purity of gait, I thought it might be fun (I could be wrong) to put up a video of my own horses and have their gaits critiqued by everyone.

This is Misty my friesian cross mare
Click on the picture and the video will play

not the best quality video it was taken with my digital still camera not a video camera

ROFL....I liked the part she fell over sideways in the middle and then righted herself.....hmmmmm.... Got a good laugh there.

Also, very nice trotting shoulder over in a circle right after that.

All in all she looks like she has a nice smooth trot and canter.   Not the big floating dressage trot (passage?), but looks like she's a smooth ride.

LMAO.... yea she got tired and fell over

It's really hard to hold the camera and ask them to do things with the stick in your hand too.

How about when I said back and she came in... LOL

She is smooth, thanks.

When it's her decision to run she really pounds the gound with her hooves she makes the biggest holes in the grass.
Leah

do you trim all of those horses? particularly the chestnut?

(I know odd question)
jokersmama

The chestnut is Joker the one I have been PMing you about. Yup those are all mine and I have been doing their hoof care for the last year and trying and trim them more regularly.

Joker is the one with the mystery diarrhea, was labeled "navicular" and has a limp in his shoulder.
Julie

what is she crossed with as not very friesian paces. nices paces, very smooth, lacks a bit of balance and could engage more but a lovely type of mare
jokersmama

She is crossed with a QH. She can move more like a friesian if she tries she has to be in the mood though

Any suggestions on what can I do to improve it would be welcomed and appreciated.

Wow, I am such a ditz sometime. I went back over the video three times -- thinking, 'Wait, she fell? I didn't see ANYTHING...'

She actually moves a lot like my mare, who is a Morgan. Same slighty-actioned trot, and she even goes into the canter the same way too. Just more proof that Morgans are descended from a Friesian line.
Julie

She looks more Quarter horse than friesian - which is probably a good thing as she has none of the friesian type defects.

When I say she is unbalanced - she is not engaging her inside hind as much as she could which means she is circling with her head turned to the outside, not bending correctly, and using correct balance.

Ahhhh. Thank you for clarifying for me, I am trying to learn all the terms and what they mean to everyone.
