Excessive thirst & urinationHi,
Olivia has always been a fairly wet horse and always drunk lot - and then more so during hot nights (she's stabled at night). I've been away from home for the last 10 days on holiday and got back home today. My friends at the stables have told me that she's been drinking two buckets full of water a night and her entire bed has been soaking wet. It's so bad, that in the morning the shavings still haven't soaked up all the water and its like a tap when they pick up the shavings.
Other than the drinking Olivia looks really healthy. She's a little tubby, but then she's been on grass and hay and not exercised for while I've been away. Her eyes are glowing, and there was nothing about her appearance today that struck me.
I've looked up drinking problems on google but there isn't much help there. I'm asking you guys because there's such a massive wealth of knowledge on here - I would happily hedge a bet that many of the horse owners on the forum know a lot more about horses than my stupid vet (grrr!!).
Opinions anyone, please

Sounds like Diabetes to me. They just had an article in The Horse about all the undiagnosed diabetes in horses. Excessive thirst and urination are classic signs. Diabetes is a simple glucose test.
