Wow...those feed bags make everything go really smooth.  What a great idea !  Nice to see such well behaved horses.

Enjoyed the show, and love the respect they have for you

Great video!

I love how smoothly it all goes. Especially at the beginning when you're dishing out the food--no fighting or bickering at all!

Awesome job!

Clarissa, that is precious!  Can you come and train mine?  They're all spoiled brats!  I don't make them line up or anything.  You're too much!

Very Well done! I enjoyed that video!
May I share it with a friend that's not on the board? I want to show her it CAN be done with out all the fighting and stupidity that she sometimes goes through to feed. I personally won't feed a horse till they are calm and respectful to me.
Thanks Clarissa for the video!

While your in the US midas well come train mine too!  I have a mustang mare that is a ROYAL witch when it comes to food!!

You and your horses are so awesome!!  Thank you so much for sharing your video with us!!!!

Question tho ... what do you do when its freezing cold or pooring rain?
Clarissa

Thanks everyone for your interest. It sure is a different way to do things!

ElaineW the video is on youtube so it belongs to the world now. Send the link to whomever you feel like. It's all good!

PedestalPony I hate feeding my horses in cold blustery wet weather    I don't have any run-in shelter, yards or pens or even much protection from the winter elements so I either feed much earlier in the day before it gets too cold or I just have to rug up more. If the rain is really heavy I don't feed or I time it between downpours whatever the time of day. Thankfully I have the luxury of time.

The horses go ballistic in cold wet weather so I chase them around a lot before feed time so they get the 'buck' out of their systems. I know they are ready to eat because they line themselves up & stop breathing heavily & challenging each other. Someone posted about some type of fungal spores that grow on grass in cold wet weather that casues horses to go stupid & become reactive. I think that must happen here because they certainly get reactive at certain times during winter.

At those times it can be almost impossible to get through feedtime without some sort of incident. But then horses the world over are prone to toppling their feed bins at some time or other when they are reactive.

Usually what happens here is one will leap in the air throwing their head up, charging off at the sound of a bird calling or the next gust of wind so their feed falls out of their nose bucket. Then they all gallop off down the hill & snort & trumpet & blow the remaining feed out of the buckets. It happens about 2 or 3times during winter. I just shake my head lammenting the waste of feed & wait for them to come back to me which they inevitably do after a few minutes. It's a small price to pay for year round feedtime peace!

To everyone who would like me to go overseas to train their horses.....I would love to but I just can't tear myself away from this bit of heaven that I live in....sorry!      Best I can do is write it all down here.

If you want to know how I trained them, let me know.
