I am sure you know Frederic Pignon left Cavalia several years ago. The show was reportedly even better back then.

Mike, I was not aware that he left Cavalia. I would say from what I observed that his training philosophy is still in place, but your comment really has me wondering what I missed by not seeing the show before he left. I didn't want you to think that I ignored your comment, so spent some time researching Pignon and didn't find out when he left, but apparently he is in another show. Perhaps one of our European members can enlighten us, or has seen or studied with him.
I did find some other references to him.

And he is the Headline act in the Horse of the Year Show:

Sadly, I can't find any other books or videos about him. I do like his philosophy though. I pulled this quote from the first article I posted:
| Quote: | Most of what we ask our horses to do on a daily basis is not as inherently harmful as dressage practice with rollkur. Yielding the head and trotting in 20 meter circles can’t physically hurt a horse unless he has health problems or injuries.
It can be harmful in other ways, however, as Frédéric Pignon says,
What people do not appreciate is that every time a horse submits to pressure, whether subtle or overt, he is diminished. Probably the great majority of people who achieve their own ends by making their horse submit are not even aware of what they have done. It is a sad fact that a horse can be made to do many things by breaking his will. If he can be persuaded to give his assent freely and pleasurably rather than give into man’s pressure or clever techniques, he is not diminished. |
I mentioned before that I often see a big difference in what many people say and what they actually do. I am thinking Fredric is like Klaus, making natural horsemanship real. It is obvious with both men, that you can still accomplish great things with horses training naturally.
