ABSOLUTELY!!!
I rode with Buck last Fall and was way nervous about it. I found out that Buck doesn't care where you start but rather where you finish. He cares that you are willing and trying. You'll have a great experience and I'm sure learn bunches and bunches. I know I did.

I'm trying to figure out who to take. Eclipse? Gunner? I don't know. I hear he doesn't say much unless ya ask. I'll be asking, for sure. Showin' up in my little dressage saddle. Closest thing to bare back, so I'm better in it. So, take the horse I always ride, or take the horse I'd like to sell? Figure I'll know when the time comes. Just know I'm gonna go ride with some real nice folks, in some beautiful country, with a great horseman. It'll be one of those rare defining moments in time.

Buck does not give much individual attention, but he will answered every question I asked. During exercises in which I was having issues or confused, I'd ride in to Buck ask me question then go do what he said. At the end of the day while every one was leaving I'd ask a question or two. He was always welcome to answering my questions.
Many of the riders in the clinic were in dressage or hunt seat saddles. Probably about half the participants were in english tack. He did not seem to have any bias for discipline. He did have issues with some specific aspects of tack - for example he prefers light weight slobber straps not heavy ones. I had the heavy weight slobber straps, so I took note of the information and have been trying different types to see how the equines respond.
You'll have fun. I'm sure when the time arrives you will know who to bring.

Just some food for thought.......what's the point of "riding in a clinic" if you're not going to take the horse you want the most help with? Especially since you're paying pretty big bucks ... it's not about "riding with Buck" it's about learning from Buck in a clinic... after all youre not paying just to ride around an arena that Buck happens to be in, right?
There were a whole lot of poeple in the clinic I watched 30+ seemed to me that was too many some people were just lost and made some, but very little progress....others that were more advanced, advanced more. But keep in mind I was watching horsemanship I, not the foundation class. What level will you be taking?

I was thinking along those lines too.
What class will you be taking and also what priorities will you have?
Do you want to take the horse that will enable you to learn the most or the horse that needs it the most?
Maybe these priorities would not be in conflict depending on what it is you want to learn.

I think I've read before that you have ridden with Brent Graef? Then you are well prepared to ride with Buck. He will emphasize about where the feet are and always offering the good deal first to the horse much like Brent. What I do in a big group like the horsemanship class is listen to what he is telling other riders and apply it to my own riding, not wait for him to address me personally. Then it is like getting multiple lessons!
The following is only my opinion, of course I don't really know what Buck is thinking;
But like others have said he doesnt care how far along you are or what kind of tack you ride in, but that you come there to learn, not show him what you already know.
If you feel like he's ignoring you it usually means one of two things; he's tried with you and decided you're not there to learn ( that usually doesn't happen until the last day) or you're getting along okay and he's letting you work on things. But he doesn't miss anything.
I'd also suggest getting there early before each class and watch him warm up his own horse. There is a lifetime of learning in that alone.
Above all have fun! If things do fall apart Buck is the one you want there to help you out and maybe he'll work with your horse for you!
