Hello from Middle TennesseeHello I from southern Middle Tennessee these days, although my roots and most of my life were on the OH/PA border.
I am a lifelong trail rider. I have three Tennessee Walkers and one Arab.
My 23+ TWH was diagnosed a insulin resistant four years ago and the 12 yo TWH was diagnosed last year. I am always interested in reading the health sections in various forums to see how others manage their metabolic horses.
Thanks for letting me in

Welcome, Gaitin'.
I strive to keep my mare's diet at or under 10% Non-Structural Carbohydrates (NSC's). And give her lots of exercise. No more 24/7/365 access to rich pasture.

Oh, and a grazing muzzle can really help out, too. When I got my donkey last year he was so overweight. It took a few days for him to get the gist of things but once they get it, they get it!!
