Hello, my name is Brandi and I'm a Parelli-aholic.....Thank you for giving me a place to start my rehabilitation!
As I stated above my name is Brandi and I hail from Stockbridge, WI, which is about an hour south of Green Bay. I am 37 years old, married (11 years on Feb. 1!)to a wonderful man named Tiny and I have a 10 year old daughter Alex.
I have over the past 10 years dedicated myself to Parelli in hopes of becoming a Parelli Pro. Attended everything, bought almost everything they had to offer, encouraged new horse owners to check Parelli out and start their journey.
And in the last six months or so, it has hit me really, really hard that the dream of being a PP is not going to happen.
Was it because I lacked Talent, Try, Skills or Luck? NO. It's because I lack a winning lottery ticket or a trust fund.
When I got into this program, it gave me hope that I could become something in the horse world. It seemed to me at the time that I didn't HAVE to have $5 million in the bank. I was a poor white girl who took Pat's advice from the start, ie; if I took care of my horsemanship, my horsemanship would take care of me. But that isn't so anymore from the direction Parelli, Inc. seems to be heading.
So for the last three days, I have been lurking on this forum, finding out what is going on over at Parelli, Inc. Once confirmed as a member, I started by reading the entire 42 page thread on Remmer, and many of the suspicions my husband pointed out to me are being confirmed. And there are some things that surprised me also, like the obesity and foot issues. (Take the blinders off, Brandi, you fool!)
You know what the biggest bummer of all is? I HAVE TO ADMIT TO MY HUSBAND THAT HE WAS RIGHT ALL ALONG!!!!!!! aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaARRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHH. Since he is not into horses like I am, he could see things from a completely unbiased perspective and he kept warning me and warning me. And of course I would defend every move made by the corporation and not take his advice or point of view to heart. So, Tiny, I am so sorry I didn't listen sooner! But that seed you planted did sprout and now it is growing like the proverbial weed.
So....here I proclaim...I will set down this last glass of Kool Aid and never drink again.
Each and everyone of you here are special people, I can tell from the threads I have been reading. I am especially thankful to dmcamelothills for giving me the reference to this site after our wonderful phone chat on Friday.
Let the cleansing begin!
My levels mare is Passion, an extreme RBE. I have 10 other horses too, all are Spanish Arabians, save one poor Quarter Horse, Twisted Wind Bar and a mini named Windjammer.
I look forward to stretching my educational horizons and finally learning classical dressage, and from the posts I have seen, there is a ton of information out there I have been missing out on because of my direct line thinking. OH BOY!!!!
Cheers everyone!

That last batch of kool-aid is going to need to be pretty strong
Lots of happenings over there lately. I think they have truly jumped the shark on this one. Several big name PP's have left recently.
There will always be those willing to drink, and those willing to go to rehab. Welcome to rehab

Totally OT, but I love your avatar pic, Mike. Could you tell us more about the horses in the picture? Maybe start another thread?

Hey Brandi! I live just west of GreenBay in Seymour.
I too was a Parelli a holic. I have been in rehab for the past year after much disillusionment.( is that a word?) I still feel Parelli is the only way for me but I have so much more information to go along with it now.
So sad you worked so hard and hit a wall.
You will like it here. The people are honest and REAL! Somebody is always willing to help and it's just a wonderful place to plant your roots! Thanks to Carol

Brandi: We must be sisters. I've had the same experience as you. Welcome - you have certainly come to the right place!
Mike: I hear you. You've done a great job holding it in for a long time now. Might as well let it out like the rest of us!

Brandi, being a newbie too I can so relate to your story!. I've been on the site for awhile and boy have I learned and laughed. I too drank the Koolaid and it was sad to read the Remmer story and let a fairy tale go. My husband warned me too because he was "standing" outside the circus. I have not given up my savvy club membership yet, but it's coming! Welcome and hope to read your posts soon!! PS I'll be watching Brett take on the Saints tonight. Nancy

Thank you ALL for the very warm welcome! It is nice to know that there are others here who can feel my pain of a dream that has been totally crushed, and the ability to let it out and not have the EF comment thrown in your face! I am so sick of hearing that.
I will try to contribute as much as possible, but I usually find myself reading and learning more than anything.
I am still in the Savvy Club as of yet. I am waiting for the February ST issue because my name will be in there for passing L4 at liberty with Passion. I am sure after that I will be canceling and saving the $20 monthly fee.
Now back to reading and catching up and creating a list of classical dressage books and DVDs to continue on my journey of great horsemanship!
Again, thank you so much for letting me be part of this group. I am looking so forward to this new part of my horsey life!

Can I come visit you in Colorado? j/k I was at the ISC in 2003 and just fell in love with the state. Seems the winters are more mild that Wisconsin's? later this week we are dropping down into the low teens with wind chills to -40. that is gonna suck!

colorado's awesome! I lived there for three years. definitely not as harsh winters as wisconsin (my dad lives in Arpin near Marshfield). I live in texas so I got everyone beat.
Is there a thread somewhere about what Mike alluded to in his earlier post? I know they came out with some more levels dvds, I've got them on my queue on giddyupflix.com, should I bother or is it the same old stuff? (I've seen the red and blue levels one and two).

Brandi...you're story is so very familiar. I think it's a 12-step program and you've taken the first two already. I think if you go spend time on the MONEY forum you'll read and share LOTS of similar stories. Feel free to add to them there as you see fit.
It seems to me we all need to vent at first. I think the liberation of having someplace where you can speak freely and just get it out is both necessary and very liberating. In time your anger will pass and fade slowly and you'll be able to look back on the good things you've learned and build on them with all the different clinicians and methods we explore here.
And one day, you'll be able to move forward and even enjoy doing Parelli again...secure in the knowledge that you don't HAVE to. I'm not sure which direction you want to grow...even staying in the program is fine...but you will grow more. It seems to be the thing we all have in common.
Welcome...
