Help - Sawdust dried Frog/Heel - Now Cracked w thrushFirst of all, it's not like I don't get out to the barn to clean my horses feet on a regular basis! I just got him a couple of months ago and he came with a crack around the back of his heel/frog and with contracted heels on the front. Now he has dry feet from the extremely dry sawdust where I board and 3 feet with horizontal cracks above the frog - with thrush in them. My trimmer said to soak them every day in a lysol solution. Any other suggestions??? Thanks.

Cleantrax has been the best and only real solution for thrush that we have found. I've used tea tree oil for regular maintenance, but when confronted with a genuine case of thrush, it didn't cut it. I tried the copper stuff and the thrush just came back after treatment. The Clean trax has finally done the trick and it doesn't kill live tissue. You can get it at Centaur Forge.

Second the CleanTrax. I also have good luck with a 50/50 mix of triple antibiotic cream and Clotrimazole cream.

Yep, and put the mix into a syringe and you can squirt it right into those cracks.

I agree, it is becomming the industry standard for treating thrush. I think descriptions of how it works is a bit wishy washy, but the end result is good. Deep penetrating means it will penetrate the open cracks and tracts, and poor hoof wall. I never got the whole "it's the fumes" thing. fumes are a gas, the foot is submerged in a gallon of water...the only time I have seen gas in the water...was when the baby farted in the bath tub.
In all seriousness though. It may very well be non-necrotising (supposedly won't harm live tissue) but, excessive soaking will. So treat one time, then keep your horses environment free of horse crap and horse crap saturated mud. Do follow up treatments with the above mentioned creme mix and give it a couple weeks.
That would be my reccomendation. Too much of a good thing, ain't a good thing.

Colloidal silver has also been a good long term maintenance product.

Half and half organic apple cider vinegar with the mother in it and water with a few drops of tea tree oil is the only thing that worked for Dusty. I have continued to use it with Scout with good results.

I also had good luck with the CS. ut in a spray bottle and spray on after hooves are good and clean. needs 6 minutes to work effectively.
