Horse Gypsy

Hey everybody!

I am Carey.  I am 32 and I have 2 kids 5 and 7 girl and boy.  I live in Montana and after buying my land-have become a bit of a horse collector-  Right now I have 8.  I was born in NYC- and grew up about 1 hr north of the city- got into horses with my mom as a kid and eventually into Dressage.  I was a dancer - and I followed that path for while quit horses got disillusioned with the urban dancer lifestyle -which is all work and really hard and moved west when I was in my 20s.  I become a yoga instructor and have studied Ayurveda and Herbology extensively.  I became involved with a variety of activist organizations and ended up living off the grid for years in the Desert of New Mexico and having my 2 kids.  I wanted greener pastures and some horses in my life so I moved to Montana.
I took in because I was so desperate for a horse again 2 very challenging horses and that lead me to Parelli- but both of those horse have lead me away form Parelli also. because there level of problem/talent isn't addressed in the program as it is currently.   Now I somehow have 8 horses- and have learned a lot from them about horses and myself.

Okay so this is going to sound like I am being a smart@ss but did you have your 2 kids in the dessert?? Just curious. I mean like, a home birth not literally in the dessert.

I had both my kids at a birth center with a midwife.  It was more comfortable for me that way.  I lived outside of Taos, NM which is sort of a bustling community and has changed dramatically over the past 20 years-  Have you all seen the movie Easy Rider-  I used to live near those hot springs that they go to and the Gorge Bridge-  But now I am a Montana Girl- really a much better environment for horses- if you can bear the winters- which actually you get used to.

OK now I get it-  I was never a student- spelling is not one of my strengths-- so funny my 7 year old son is just like me-  he just isn't getting entirely with the school program- wish he was more into horses- but it may come a little later for boys-  I have my fingers crossed-  he has the horseman's body -  tall leggy and strong.
