Howdy from Wasilla, AKHello: I have been around horses for over 35 years, and currently own 5, but my riding horse is Monty, a 4 1/2 yr old Hafflinger gelding. (We have another Haflinger, Stanley, who is quite a character as well). I have been in the Parelli program since 1998-and have bought all their dvds, tapes, Level kits (all 3 sets now!), bridles, halters, lead ropes, hackamores, carrot sticks, pads, and even have both the english and trail parelli saddles. I really like the groundwork, but had several issues arise during the riding phases. I feel like the Parelli progam had let me down or at least did not seem able to deal with the riding issues that I was having, so had contemplated leaving the SC. But the clinching moment, as I suspect a lot of people on this forum feel, was the SC new levels.....so I quit.
I use advice from Parelli, Dressage (KR and WAZ amongst others), Mark Rashid and Kathleen Lindley (attended clinics with both), and the advice of local trainers as well as DVDs from Craig Johnson, Stacy Westfall......etc. Lots of good horsemanship is out there .
Anyway, Glad to join you!
