It's snowing in Tennessee!!!!(pics)

Yipeee!!!!!!!
I know how all you guys west are feeling about snow and I don't blame you one bit, but we rarely get it and this is real snow!  It's accumulating!!

Here's why I love snow right now:
It makes everything beautiful and covers up the dreary brown ground.  It even decorates the trees.  It gets in my eyelashes and melts on my cheeks.  It makes everything really quiet and peaceful and serene.  It has the ability to shut down my town completely.  No traffic noises at all.  It makes adults act like kids playing snow angels and sledding and building snowmen.  It makes me remember living in Wisconsin as a kid and going cross country skiing and ice skating and building forts and snowball fights and wet mittens when you come inside and everyone's cheeks all red.  The horses and dogs act like total idiots romping about and bucking and kicking for no reason at all except that something is falling out of the sky.  And for the first time I'm seeing the snow accumulate on my horse's backs without melting.  I always wondered what that would be like since I'd heard about it.  Pretty neat.

(Of course, I'm not remembering all the bother and bitter cold right now.  Just enjoying the momentary beauty of it since we don't get it often.)

Thanks for the fresh eyes,
From someone who lives in snow lock all winter.

Expecting snow tonight too and it is only 12 degrees, BRR ! Yes, it can be quite beautiful and peaceful if you don't have to go anywhere !

Waiting for it to start here in South Carolina too.  Cant wait!!!

Just a dusting here, and I'm so glad.  We may get this mud dried up after all.  I remember what a treat it was if it snowed, when I lived in Tennessee as a little girl.  It happened so rarely, it's one of my earliest memories.  I do kind of miss all that big snow and skiing, especially.  I guess Mammoth got 7 feet in 7 days?  It was so fun going out at night on a full moon, and the snow looked like a bazillion diamonds.  It's full moonish now, so don't forget to go outside and check it out when the clouds clear up!  [/u]

Still snowing in south central MO.  Went out to get a few things and tracks were covered when I got back.  15mi to town!   Enjoy the beauty

You all can keep it!We have had enough

It was a full-fledged winter storm - snowed all night.  So much snow you have to wade through it.  I never remember seeing this much snow in Tennessee in over 20 years!  The dogs can't figure out where to pee and everything is gorgeous and cold.  I know it can't compete to the amounts you guys get out west, but it's terrific for here.

Fur balls ! They are so fuzzy and adorable. Don't seem to be a bit bothered by the snow. I like your rustic entrance over the gate. What does the sign say ???

I can't believe you were worried about those minis getting cold.  Do they every slick out?

And to think this time last year I came down from the cold Northern Illinois to attend the Franklin TN Celebration. I remember it was like Spring there in TN, just jacket weather. Such a change from our Northern Illinois cold and snow!

I was watching the news this am and there were lots of pics of TN  but none quite as lovely as yours!  Brush the snow off those little cuties and start tryin on their cupid outfits for the calendar!  Nancy love1

4theloveofjake - the sign says Blackberry Valley.  I gave my pasture a name and took it from the oodles of wild blackberry bushes I had to clear to make a place for my horses.  My father helped me make the arch over the gate.

bit - Yep - they slick out real good.  Here's a summer picture posted below to prove it  Remind me next year how thick their coats are when I get all worried about them being too cold in the winter!!
This afternoon the snow on their backs had all melted but the resulting water that dripped off their sides refroze so they had icicles hanging off their sides!  I tried pulling them off, but they were stuck.  DIdn't seem to bother them so I left it.  Doesn't look like we'll be melting much till Monday.

How is everyone else doing in the snow?  Hope you are all staying warm and cozy.

I love that name and I also love blackberries ! Yum ! It is soooo friggin cold here it is ridiculous ! I believe it is currently 10 and it snowed about 6 inches yestersday. I have had my fill of the cold and am eagerly awaiting spring now. I feel so distant from my horses because the time spent with them is just feeding and watering.
