Karen Rohlf's DVDsI bought the second DVD in Karen's series, "Riding in Connection with the Reins," and she talks about how she helps her horse, Ovation, who is a bracey and un-motivated horse, travel lightly and with balance. She talks about and shows how to get him to lift himself up and not travel on his forehand all the time.
I love KR. She is so gentle and has such a great sense of humor. In describing Ovation and how dominant and tolerant of discomfort he is, she says he "touched the electric fence FOUR times with his nose before he decided that might not be a good thing."
She also is really good at pointing out when the horse is traveling with lightness and balance, and is not heavy and on his forehand.

I audited a 5 day clinic when she was in Ontario and it was absolutely incredible as well!!! Well worth going to see if she's anywhere close by!! I have the first book and DVD and can't wait to get the other 2!

I really like her emphasis on how to help the horse learn how to use its body correctly and comfortably. She is super in-tune with her horses, I think her awareness of how her horses are moving (both from the ground and while riding), is phenomenal.

I've audited one of her clinics, and I plan to audit again this April. Not only is she an amazing rider, she is also a great teacher...very calm, but direct, and descriptive about what you want to be doing. Plus, she's funny as all get out. Dressage isn't just a sport to her, it's a game

Yes, she's absolutely funny! She would make things to light hearted when someone would do something "wrong" and just laugh about it and be able to make it all come around into something right. She's just an incredible teacher that does keep it very fun! I really like her sense of humour!

For Karen Rolf, would this be the book and dvd to start with? I am looking for exercises to do with my horse to help build her topline and just strenghten her over all.
Dressage, Naturally ... Results in Harmony. A Guide to the Basics of Dressage from a Natural Horsemanship Perspective.

Yes, this book is fantastic. At the end she has little essays about real-life situations, these are a fantastic inspiration and teaching aid, in addition to the exercises she outlines in the book. And it is all easy to digest in small chunks with helpful diagrams.
