Mind blowing is happening again...

uh oh y'all my mind is being blown again......

In Autobiography of a Yogi (Paramhansa Yogananda), a resurrected yogi spells out the composition of the astral worlds.

If you ever wanted a description of 'heaven' (higher astral worlds...there is more than one level by the way), and wanted to know what keeps you 'chained' to this particular type of world (physical), you are going to loooove this book.

Lots of cool stories too, about advanced yogis.

oooohhhhh I am almost done with this book. It has been extremely uplifting. It gives me a roadmap to attain what I want (spiritual evolution on the fast track.) Here are some quotes from the book.

...."Yet the ordinary man is not shut out from the possibility of divine communion. He needs, for divine recollection, no more than the Kriya Yoga technique, a daily observance of the moral precepts, and an ability to cry sincerely: "Lord, I yearn to know thee!"

"Various great teachers of India have been called tirtha-karas, 'ford-makers,' because they reveal the passage by which bewildered humanity may cross over and beyond the stormy seas of samsara (the karmic wheel, the recurrence of lives and deaths). Samsara (liberally, 'a flowing with,' the phenomenal flux) induces man to take the line of least resistance. 'Whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God.' (He who offers God a second place offers Him no place.) To become a friend of God, man must overcome the devils or evils of his own karma or actions that ever urge him to spinelss acquiescence in the mayic* delusions of the world A knowledge of the iron law of karma encourages the earnest seeker to find the way of final escape from its bonds. Because the karmic slavery of human beings is rooted in the desires of darkened minds, it is with mind-control that the yogi concerns himself. The verious cloaks of karmic ignorance are laid away, and man views himself in his native essence."

*maya is the term for the contrast-delusion of this world, the extremes of opposite/contrast which allow us to perceive anything at all. (hot/cold, love/hate, etc). They are ultimately illusion, however because 'God' (insert preferred term here) is all there is; love, peace harmony, oneness is the ultimate reality, and this world is an illusory or dream-scape.

Reading this book has cemented my current understanding and fleshed it out to an amazing degree....

...and it's only the beginning! There are so many more things to learn which are (references) given in the book. I enrolled in the study lessons for preparing to learn Kriya Yoga and am really hoping I can discipline myself to get my nose out of a book long enough to start employing the meditation as that is such a vital part of it. How many of you meditate regularly and if anybody is willing to share their routine and experiences, I'd love to hear it. you can PM me if it's too personal to post publicly.

I have had only a couple 'fruitful' sessions, one of which I was not even trying but had just got done reading a great part of one of the neale donald walsch books and closed my eyes and poof, there was the blue flame and an overwhelming feeling of love. I feel as though it is VERY veiled though.

After finishing the book today I was trying to decide what to read next. I began to investigate how I could learn more and wanted to scrutinize the source, so I wikipedia'd and found one particular site that warns of the teachings of kriya yoga having been changed over time and with different teachers. My distaste for organizations that seek to control is the reason I now seek information given freely without someone standing to gain monetarily or seeking personal attention. Somehow I got onto this site which, in this light, seemed helpful so I'll share it here. I like things that break it down to simplicity and availability.
