More cresty in winter?

Hi guys,

I come to you once again for your experience. I have noticed this year that my horses seem more cresty than they were in the summer. I've only really become aware of this in the past year so I can't comment whether or not the same thing happened last winter. It isn't excessive cresty at all - its just firmer than it was in the summer. We had put them on  roasted soy bean when the colder weather started coming but I didn't like what that did to their bodies.

I guess my basic question is how much do their bodies change in preparation for cold winters?
