Navajo blanket recommend a good one?

There are so many!  Any recommendations?  Needs to be all wool.
PasoBaby_CarolU

I have some but haven't used any in years.  If you are going this direction I suggest joining the Ecclectic Horseman forum or the Californio Group on Yahoo and asking there.

I like my cotton.   I will tell you authentic Navajo blankets are made of home spun wool.  Not sure how safe the dyes are.  You'd probably be looking for a brand, and people who use them are the ones to ask.

Honestly, I don't know.  Never had a saddle like this, so no clue what pad to use.  Guess I better ask a good saddle fitter.  I don't care what KIND of pad it is, just want everything to fit and be comfortable.  This is what the saddle maker recommended.

Deb,
Is Hawk your new riding horse? He looks so cute in a western get-up
bit

Hawkie is going to Tony and Jenny Vought for two mos traiining.  They are very "soft" with their horses and I am hoping Hawk comes home a more finished horse, and a happy one.  They also encourage you to come train there, so I'm going to try and schedule a week to ride.  Eclipse is going too, as her first experience with training.  Which horse?  I don't know.  They are so different.  Hawk is really attached, comes like a dang border collie when I call him, all excited, ears forward, eyes bright, and tops it off with a nose snuggle.  Clips is getting more and more attached, and she's so cool to ride.  I finally figured out how to get the slinky, kink out of her neck when she gets all stressed about leaving the herd.  It was her last vice.  Guess I have two very good, very different horses.  lol, and no idea what pad to use with this upcoming saddle.   I only want to buy stuff once.  I have three saddles and getting another, and only need one or two.

5 Star pads are premium.  They now make a liner with a blanket attached if you want something pretty.  Otherwise, their 7/8 or 1 inch wool pad would work for you.

Got a real nice blanket, and folded will be one inch which is all I need.  I just called saddle maker and they said the saddle is custom, so I won't need a lot of padding, only about one inch.  wow.  I have this cartoon in my head of someone sitting on their saddle and about four feet of pads, then the horse.  They are saying, "Does it fit yet?"  lol.  Now I just need to figure out what I want for reins.  Looking at horse hair, but don't like the feel of them.  May just take the rope off my hackamore and make a macate out of it.  Nice rope with a  lot of feel.  Hopefully, this will be the last saddle I'll ever buy.

Is your blanket all wool? Is it already folded in half? It just looks so small. I really like the colors!

I know!  But this is the blanket on the horse, so I think I'll need to fold it for it to fit my saddle, which is little and has a round skirt.  Yep, wool and hand made.

What are the dimensions and where did you get it? I am looking for a large one. My rounded saddle is soooo long my 32" square blanket hardly reaches both ends of the saddle.

Good ole ebay.  Not always a good call, but hoping this blanket is a nice one.  Woman said she originallly paid 150.00 for it at quarter horse congress.  I also have my saddle rite pad, if this doesn't work out.  It was made for my endurance saddle, so should fit just fine.  I feel so clueless about all this.  My saddle won't be here untill after Eclispe leaves for Missiouri.  The folks she is going to train wth are good at saddle fitting, so I'll be able to make sure the saddle fits, and figure out appropriate padding.  sigh, just in time for winter!
