My husband has questioned Mis' intelligence. Don't hold that against him. He's worried for my safety because of Mis & he was justified because he can only know what he knows until he learns more. Tonight I came home with a treat for him because he's had a bad week. I had to rush in & get everything. I heard the metallic BANG...BANG...BANG. Somewhere in my mind registered "water tank" but with the hub-bub of getting out of work clothes, into home clothes & talking to my husband. I forgot.

I let the pups out & heard BANG BANG BANG & could have slapped myself. I called out, "I'm coming" but the mare was so busy 'ringing the bell' so to speak that she didn't hear me. I hollered, "Mis... I'm COMING"

Her head jerked up & she nodded. She has this look on her face like, 'bout time'

I hustled & my husband hurried to pull the hose & I turned it on & filled the trough. He felt horrible for not checking again as it's been hideously hot. Thankfully the mares are drinking like they're supposed to in order to keep hydrated. Mis may be low mare on the totem pole 3 but she's smart enough to know how to ring for service. I had to laugh, I told him, "I thought you didn't think her too bright." He said, "how does she thinks that'll get her water?" I said, "well I think it's pretty brilliant considering every time she does it we come out & fix the problem."

I love that little gray mare. More over she looks at him like she thinks he's a little brain-inferior. It's simply because he doesn't understand her or certain doesn't understand the deeper stuff. I love 'em both. Sometimes it's certainly worth the price of admission to see how they look at one another. He looks at her & shakes her head. She looks at him & gives him this 'mule ears' out like helicopter blades.

Mine ring too...but the neighbors aren't too happy when it's five in the morning and they're playing "dueling feed troughs" trying to get me out there earlier.

This is a good case of how horses train humans!

Husbands and horses LOL!!!!

Mine (husband) tries real hard and has learned quite a bit over the years. Babe, his mule, has taught him how to "sort of" connect. But when Bubba sees him coming he perks up and starts bumping him around with his nose. Bubba is low on the totempole around here so he sees Wil as being lower than him.

Wil let's him do it then complains about it later LOL!!!

I love them both.

Ha, mine too! He is a natural horseman but he doesn't apply any of these natural gifts. What a missed opportunity but he has his own passions and shines at those

By the way, I have never met a stupid horse, just horses with different processing speeds and different motivators

You should see Tony and Hawk. He doesn't DO horses, but they sure love him. He likes Parelli a lot, too.
