Prayers for Jodi (Pedestal Pony)I hope Jodi doesn't mind me posting this but I feel like the more people we have praying for her the sooner things will get better for her. Not only has she been through a lot getting Kody healthy the last few months, and the upsetting event of her sister's mare aborting twins, but her beloved Patchy passed away earlier this week. He was an amazing paint gelding that she has owned for a long time. I don't know what happened to him, just that he died. I have not talked to her personally but can tell from her FB posts that she needs some prayers.
What a lot of you may not know about her is she is the most generous woman on the planet. I was lucky enough to get to spend the day with her at her farm back when Kody was really sick, and in September we went on a Poker Run Benefit ride together. She came to the benefit ride with 3 teenage girls, she hauled them there and was responsible for them for the day. Two of the girls were riding horses that Jodi "owned" I put own in quotations because she is such a wonderful person she gave the horses to the girls, who could not afford their own horses. Jodi still cared for them, they still lived at her farm, and helped the girls learn all about natural horsemanship. I don't know the details of the "ownership" terms, but that doesn't matter anyway. It was her generous loving spirit that mattered. Those two girls were so excited about their horse partnership. And sadly now one of the girls has lost her beloved "Patchy". I know Jodi is heartbroken as is Kristi (the girl that rode him and loved him with all her heart).
So anyway, I just wanted everyone to join me in prayer to lift Jodi up from all of the sadness that she has been surrounded with lately. I know things will get better for her but dang it right now it probably doesn't feel that way. I love Jodi like a sister she is a wonderful loving generous person and loves her horses as much as if not more that the rest of us. So we can all relate to what she is going through right now. Please remember Kristi in your prayers too, as her heart is broken by Patchy's passing as well.
Jodi please don't be upset with me for posting this, but I know a lot of people on this forum love you too, and we all love horses, that is our common bond on this forum. Praying for you Sis! Love you!!

I responded to Jodi on Facebook, but it doesn't hurt to hope she heals twice as soon. It is the hardest thing in the world to loose a horse. I feel very bad for her...thanks for posting this here Becky.

Thank you Becky, I am not mad at all. Never crossed my mind and I thank you from the bottom of my heart for caring enough about me and my girls to post this and ask for prayers.
It is hard but every day getting better. Patchy was the most awesome friend! He touched so many lives and loved everyone that he met!
He coliced and twisted a intestine. I rushed him to the vets after a dose of banamine wouldnt help his pain. They palpated him and said his small intestines were back farther then they should be.
The vet asked if I wanted to put him on iv fluids and I said I had to try this one last thing. So she started prepping him for fluids and she told us to go ahead and leave because fluids would take time to get in and there was no sense in staying. So we left.
I get a call at 11pm from the vet and she said he appears to be fully hydrated but he is not getting any better. She said they have one more bag of fluids to put in him and I told her dont, just put him down. If 3 bags isnt helping, more wont. I could not let him suffer any longer. He has been way too good to me to try to keep going for "our (people)" selfish hurting reasons. So we put him down.
She promised she would give him a kiss on the nose and tell him I am so sorry and thank you for a wonderfull life of fun and good, safe trail rides. He is in the greenest pastures ever, playing with the aborted colts.
I have found Kristy a horse. Her dad said he dont think she is ready for another one but Kristy dont want to sit and dwell on Patchy being gone. They are not willing to help buy the horse, pay for any up keep on him or anything so I am going to take a couple of saddles that I have and trade them for him. Thank God the owner said he may be interested in a trade. He also said he would take payments.
The parents said they didnt have any money when we called and said Patchy had to go to the vet so I paid for the vet bill and our friend to bury him. $600.00 total. Thats Ok, I would do it again tomorrow (not that I am hoping it will happen).
My "adopted" girls are all special to me! Kristy has some problems and is getting too serious with her boyfriend and has mentioned on FB that she would look cute fat (pregnate). Kristy has taken a knife on several occasions and cut her arms all up, the last one as recent as October and it was very bad. She took the knife and sliced her arm between her wrist and elbow like 20 times in both directions.
I made her promise me she would NEVER do that again. I told her that I love her with all my heart and it didnt matter what time of day or night, if she needed me to just call.
I blew up at her mom trying to get her to realize a horse will keep her busy. Her parents are very blind to all of it.
I dont want Kristy to ruin her life with a child at 15yrs old. She has so much going for her! So I am going to trade some saddles for this horse and keep it up because I am worried about this whole situation.
Mandi (one of the other girls - Kristys best friend) asked Kristy if she was going to help her feed the other night and Kristy replied, "why, I dont have anything to feed and take care of now".
I hope you all dont think I am being stupid in buying (trading saddles to buy this horse because Patchys vet and bury bill made me overdraft) this horse for Kristy. It is very important to me to keep these girls on the right track in life because there is so much peer pressure in schools now days.
I also dont want to go against her parents wishes but it seems they are wanting her to greve and not move forward because they wont let her get another horse.
Thank you again for all our prayers and thoughts. I will be Ok, if you could please pass the prayers and thoughts to Kristy I would really appreciate it.
I love you all!!!

Oh Jodi you are just the best! I wish I had some extra money to help you help Kristi. As you know I just took a $500 a month pay cut plus my gas to work is now triple what it used to be, but at least I have a job and I don't live in fear of being fired everyday. You have just been through so much lately and I have been worried about you. I hope Kristi, Mandi, and Allison know how lucky they are to have you in their lives. I am off on Saturdays now so I want us to get together and ride again real soon. If all teenage girls only had someone as wonderful as you in their lives things would be a lot different. So glad things are starting to look better.

Jodi,
You are one special, caring lady. I know this is a hard time, but you are doing this so unselfishly. Yes, you are speaking volumes to those girls when their parents are not. I admire your inner strength. I will continue to pray for your time with the girls and the horses. What a jewel you are.

Thank you all so much! Your being there is priceless to me!
We go get Kristys new (gosh, I dont know how to word it with out being disrespectful to Patchy) partner (I guess for lack of appropriate words) this morning. He is a pretty cool horse and she is on cloud 10! He is a 10yr old QH gelding that is 15 hands and is a chestnut with a blaze and a back sock.
She text her mom on the way home and said I have a new horse and her mom responded with "WHAT! We said no". I told her to just say, Jodi got another horse for me to ride. But I told her in no way shape or form is this horse mine. It is hers. I told her I will pay for everything for him. Feed, shoes and anything that he may need.
I just do not understand her parents. She kept hugging me last night and saying thank you, thank you, thank you. She said I made her bad week the best of her life. I told her that she is so very welcome. I told her she is very special to me and I want to keep her safe in life.
I am just so excited that I can offer this to the girls. They are special to me and I am being a little selfish in loving that they are letting me live my dream of riding my horses all the time and trail riding in the mountains and just enjoying my horse life.
Yes Becky, lets plan a ride!!! If we arent doing anything, how about this coming Saturday, Kings Mountain?
Pictures to come this afternoon!!
Thank you again for all your support!!!! I SO love my horse family here!!!

Jodi if I get my truck out of the shop by Saturday, then I will definitely be there. I don't see any reason why I wouldn't have my truck back then, so I am planning on it. I can't wait. Looking forward to seeing pictures of the new horse.

Here are some of the pictures of Ese' (pronounced Essay) and Kristy when we got home with him.
backing off the trailer
Havin a quick meet with Charlie and Kody over the panel
Here is Kristy and Ese'
Kristy is so excited he will trot with her when she runs. Even on a loose lead!
While looking at him and test riding him Friday evening and then going to pick him up on Saturday morning, while at the old owners house, he did nothing but keep his ears pinned flat against his head.
He has not once pinned his ears while here. He seems to be much happier here already!

Well he seems a nice chunky pony. Obviously he's sussed out that his new family are worth knowing Jodie because he sure looks happy in those photos.
Sometimes parents just can't see past the wood for the trees. I hope Kristy & her new partner get along just fine.
Jodie you are a great person to take on all those teenage girls! You are right in saying that a horse gives them something better to do. I hope for your sake (& Kristy's) that she is able to focus on her horse & leave the boys behind for a while longer. Once those hormones get racing it can be a pretty uphill battle.

He looks a lot like one my childhood playpals, Dolly. He does look real sweet. Love the flaxen mane and tail.

Jodi, those pix are so emotional. You can see it on Kristie's face:) She is taking it all in and loving that new horse. God bless ya for what you are doing for Kristi and the other girls. I will be keeping you on my prayer list.

A little late, but....I want to add my congratulations, also.
The pictures of your new horse are wonderful, Jodi. Kristi certainly is a very lucky young lady to have you in her life. A horse fills such a huge need/gap in a teens' life. I know that having my horse during those years kept me out of a LOT of trouble!!
Keep being "who you are"....blessed with the ability to fulfill these youngsters hearts with the gift of horses.

Since getting Ese' last weekend, I have been watching him learning his horseanality and him. I have come to the conclusion that Patchy has come back to us in him.
The things he does are exactly the same things Patchy did! He paws at his stall gate the same way Patchy did and he even stood on it and pulled it down (I've got to reset it now) the same exact way Patchy did before.
Ese' has been caught standing right on top of Patchys grave when the other horses are not even close. My back pasture is about 6 acres and where Patchy is buried is under the pecan tree in the middle of it.
Is this possible or am I reading into him too much and just seeing "normal" horse actions?
My other horses dont do the things he is doing. Well Charlie will paw at the gate at times but not while in his stall. Mandi also thinks is really weird because she too has seen his actions.
Kristy just loves him so much and he is a awesome horse! Her parents are still being GRRRRRRR about the whole thing but I told her that Ese' will never leave this property and he will always be hers, forever!!!
He is a joy to have around. A very cool horse!!!

What a cutie
Its funny what you said about him being Patchy coming back. I wondered the same thing about Ty the other day when I was watching the boys playing outside.
Bob and Paco would play the move your feet game and stand facing eachother and they'd snakey neck and bite at eachother's legs until Bob would prance off. (He always lost that game, but he always started it)
When I was watching the other day, I caught Paco and Ty doing the same thing. Made me choke up a little. Losing Bob was like losing a part of myself. Watching that game was a little healing. Made me go out and snuggle with them for a few
I don't know how to explain the similarities. Maybe it is just that we are attracted to similar horses when we buy them. Maybe the new kids do "channel" a little from the old kids. Who knows.
I like it though
I hope Ese brings you as much joy as Patchy did.

Some folks believe that souls can incarnate into more than one body at a time. If that is true, both horses could share the same soul.
