Ray Hunt MemorialIt is going on this weekend. Several of our members are attending and I HOPE have a computer with them for reports. If not, we'll hear Sunday night or Monday. I just wanted then to know we were anxious!

MemorialAll I can say is WOW!!! We're still soaking on the experience. To witness the caliber of horsemanship in that building for two days was overwhelming.
Saw some things that worked out great and some other things that didn't work out so great. All in all fabulous and confirmed the direction our journeys are taking us.
One of Ray's saddles sold for $43K. Mr. Parelli bought a pair of Tom Dorrance's spurs for $6,500. He also bought a colt for Kallie to play with. The colt worked through a lot of emotions this weekend and got a great start to his future. Kallie will put the polish on him.
Gotta go - exhausted - long weekend and I am riding with Buck next week.

Cool. Sounds like a great weekend. I can't wait for more details.
I must say how very lucky Kallie is. She is leading the life I would have loved...but there wasn't anything like this when I was her age. She is an inspiration to me though. I think of her patience with the Atwood colts every time Bruiser eats his halter or lead instead of behave.
How very lucky to be there and see them all.
Ok....now I won't sleep!

It was great to see all those true horsemen in one place, probably will never happen again. Inspiring to see the true meaning of putting the horse first, and not the cash flow.
Pat was well behaved, but just had to promote himself whenever possible. He got cut off several times when he started spewing the Parelli-isms. Kind of funny. He just had to buy one of the more difficult colts to show the world what PNH could do with it. He plans on bringing it to the Beaumont event.
It is very easy to be an armchair QB, but overall the colt starts were very good. We saw a few get a bit direct line and some thresholds busted pretty hard. We also saw some great riding and great communication.
We found several clinicians we are interested in hosting clinics with later this year or next year.

Ok Mike, which ones and why? I can look up their websites. I have two colts to start this year and have been watching everything by everybody. The colts are both LBE, but couldn't be more different.

We really liked (in no particular order) Martin Black, Buck, Buster MCLaury, Mark Shwarm, Harley Green, Wade Black, and Charley Hill.
We are probably going to have Mark Shwarm here sometime this year as he is pretty close.
Really, none of them would be a bad choice.

No doubt Pat will be talking about how the spurs he's wearing were Tom's bler bler bler, like they were given to him personally, and how honoured he is to be wearing them... Its going to turn into some kind of self promotion somehow.

So sad I didn't go!
Interesting Pat was part of the main Program (as a Speaker) Kinda' interesting Camerillo (the well known Barrel racer, -know her, been to her clinics) was the other speaker. I guess they had to use people who would not be in the actual colt starting program. I heard Charlie Hill was voted the winner of Ray's saddle (as the voted winner)
It was also interesting that the Parelli SC forum seems to have no comments on it as this morning? Most certainly there were many Parelli people there.
Yikes! The RH saddle went for even more then Pat could bid? Of course $6500 for the spurs would be pricey, but I am sure they will be a investment that will never be worth less.
Mike,- I am so glad you will having some of the riders @ your place. Lucky me, KarMik is within driving distance to me! I'll be there! We will all be waiting for more on your fab report of the RH Event, thanks!

I find it even more interesting that there was no mention by Parelli at all of their attendance. I would have thought for sure it would have been in the e-news or on their website.

Oh, goodie...Oh, goodie, some people who went! I wanted to go but couldn't swing it, and am curious about people's impressions. Saw some photos this morning, but what's with the orange shirts and plaid shirts on the horsemen?
Someone said they particularly liked Buck, Martin, Charlie and a few others - why? What did you see that you really liked? (Out of the people mentioned, I've only seen Buck work with horses and was impressed, of course, but I'm curious what other people see.)
Was there an announcement about a DVD of the event? That would be an awesome thing for those of us who weren't there!
Thanks,
Nancy
