Ryan GingerichHey, Ryan Gingerich is supposed to be doing a clinic in my area in August. The flyer says he's been on RFDTV. Have any of you heard of him? Is he any good? What is he like?

I watched a couple of his shows a while back when we had RFDTV. Was less than impressed...we were worried he was going to get hurt he was trying to help a gal who'se horse reared when she was leading...he came very close to getting struck a couple times. Short rope, short little stick..web halter.... very poor communication, bad timing...

I thought he took too many risks and was not a talented horseman at all. As a matter of fact my friend and I laughed til we cried when his shows came on. Save your $$

Found his book in a bookshop and bought it for the library before reading it.
Not very useful overall. He starts out saying he never believed horses had emotions. Then he read Temple Grandin's work and decided they did
He calls himself a 'behaviourist' and insists that his work is based on McLean's scientific research. Seems to see horses as rather 'limited'.
Suggests a flat halter and a weighty thick cotton rope and a dressage whip. I had a rope like this in Canada, and it certainly can't send subtle messages like yacht braid.
Some good ideas but for anyone looking for detail and insight, it wouldn't be much help.
