Scabby patches

I found hard scabby patches in the wrinkled skin of Bacardi's "underarms"---the spot just in front of where the girth would go, high up on the inside of the front legs. It is no where else but there. Any idea of what it could be, and what I can do about it? I hope it's not ringworm!

Could be pemphigus from ivermectin OD.  Can you post a pic?

Photo's would help.

My mare recently had flaky, scabby spots behind her elbows on her sides where the girth goes. I attributed this to abrasion from the girth against her skin there which has become much too fleshy. Because of a recent pasture injury I did not ride her for about 8 weeks and she consequently gained a lot of weight. When I noticed the scabs, I started stretching her forelegs after the girth was on in order to stretch out the folds of skin underneath. And I applied Dynamite's Wound Balm on the spots. The sores quickly healed.

Thanks for all your replies.

I wasn't able to get pictures, but it seems to be clearing up. He certainly is fine in every other respect, bright eyed and bushy tailed as they say.

The owner didn't seem to be worried about it. I guess it was just bug bites and irritation from bites. Although, it certainly didn't seem painful or irritating to him in any way, and those are the only spots on his body that have them.

Thank goodness it isn't pemphigus---reading about that scared the heck out of me!

I had two horses get this last year.   I used Listerine on them and they cleared up fine.   The Listerine helped with the itching.
