The Leather Tree saddleI had the chance to visit Mauricio while at Nationals and sit in his Leather Flex tree saddles. I think for those of you who have hard to fit horses, want more stability then most treeless, still want spine clearance, and a nice looking saddle, then you might want to look into these. Kind of the best of both worlds. Mauricio is also very easy to work with and helpful. He is one I've had make custom reins of different sizes, lengths, and colors.
If you go to the site and look under saddles and Leather Flex tree, and then under the English saddles at the Master Leather Flex tree. Under "Flex tree saddles" you will find a write up on the saddles. They come in narrow, medium, and wide "trees" to fit different withers. They are fairly rigid due to multiple layers of leather. They still bend and give and there would be no bridging.

I knew of this saddle before but didn't want to recommend them until I could actually sit in them and look at the workmanship. They also are very comfortable.

Oh...I like the looks.... Dang I have to head to the office today.
I'll take a closer look later today. Would love to hear testimony from someone who has spent hours in the saddle. Up and down steep terraine and on various types of horses. it say's they designed the saddle for Gaited and "sport" horses. Wonder what they mean by a "sport horse".
UM>>>more research later....price is not bad.

Good question. Normally a Sporthorse is a 3-day eventer, but considering Mauricio is Colombian, chances are he may be referring to something else. Gaited horses normally need more shoulder clearance so their shoulders can move freely.

A lot of dressage folks set their saddles farther back than the hunter jumper folks for shoulder freedom. FYI.
