What do you do if boot is rubbing back of foot?

gloves are rubbing the back of Eclipse's foot.  Isn't there some kind of sock or wrap people use?
jokersmama

I don't have experience with that, but I've read people use vet wrap.

are you using the gloves with the gaiter? You may have to try just the gloves without the gaiter, would that help? I would think a sock or vetrap would just bunch up or off its proper place but you could try it. Possibly the gloves are just not the right shape for her foot?

try vetwrap, duct tape (see the easycare website), or knee high stockings.

knee high panty hose????  knee high whats?  lol!  I took a look at the site, asked them and will let you know if I hear back.  No info on the site.  I do have power straps that I will throw on.

Bit i put a strip of duct tape on the back of Jet's heels,, just in case of a rub. It removes easy and it did show me for sure if they where rubbing.
Now the other day we went for our first big ride out.. Jet's feet where wet. So I put the tape there, then put some vet wrap over it and wrapped up to above where the boot would go.
No rubs!

OK, I have a stupid question. How do you measure for the right boot fit ? I have become aware that I am not going to be able to keep Willow barefoot if I don't get her some boots. She is too sensitive to rocks and tiptoes and stumbles often on them ...... also which ones are the favorite for those who use them ?? and Why ? Thanks in advance ...

Sherry, somewhere here there is a recent thread where someone asked us what boots we used & why. I've just spent ages trying to find it. Maybe it's been retitled.

Anyway I have been using easyboots for about 26yrs. I have not used any other brand of boot b/c I am totally happy with the EB's. They are extremely hardy & just as well too, considering the very high cost of initial purchase. Correctly fitting boots just don't come off or rub. The design of the boot incorporates many different methods of personalizing the fit. It's just a matter of trying this & that.

You will find the scale of measurements on the websites of the various brands of boots. EB's are by far the most critical to measure acurately due to their close fit.

I put up a link to a site where you can by secondhand boots in the LINKS section here. You will also find most of the measurements there.

I think boots are better for horses that don't get ridden every second day or more. Boots last years for the one upfront cost whereas shoeing is never ending & goes on costing.

Thanks ladies, seems Easy Boot Glove is the favorite so I will order the fit test kit. Do most horses need all four booted ? I think she will due to her ouchiness on rocks ...

I'm considering Renegade boots as although I love the Epics, they "gape" a little at the hoof wall, are incredibly hard to put on (and I've been using Epics for a couple of years now, but these ones are just tuff!) and the cable has to be extra tightened. I never had so much trouble with my other Epics on my other horse. Broke boots in, away we went. These ones just don't want to play, and they gaping has me concerned.

Renegades seem to be getting an excellent rep. Does anyone remember the face of EasyCare, Karen and her horse Chief? They are now Renegade users (Hmmm!)

I was having a tough time getting on the gloves until my trimmer told me to fold the gator all the way down, and rock them on.
Kelsey, ya think duct tape and knee highs?
