Whudson, a follow up please...

So, after 8 pages of stuff for Kitts feet, I am curious how the shoes are working out.  Is Kitt doing better?

Seems like we rarely get to see these things to fruition.  It is about time for resets isn't it?  Have the lameness issues been solved?

Hey Newfman...Thx for asking.  Kitt is doing great.  Was ouchy/stiff for about two days after shoes were put on.  though I think this has more to do with the fact that he had cast himself and ended up stiff a few days before.  Anyway he has been sound ever since.  He has been shod now for 1 month so he would be due in about 2 more weeks.  At that time, I am hoping to leave off the shoes again.   The ground is more forgiving now   so hopefully things will work out again.  I also now have a copy of Pete Rameys DVD's so I'm sure that won't hurt the situation and will help me with the trimming.

Will let you know how things work out!

Update on Kitt...barefoot again

So the shoes came off 4 days ago.  Hooves look fine except for the long toes.   Completely sound even on gravel.  My thought at this point is to just give a small roll and take things back very slowly.

I'm very pleased to hear that Sue Mellon will be in our area on the 15th of Oct.  Anoybody know anything about her?  I have already booked a consult and a trim.  Do you think I should leave things well enough alone till she arrives ? Thoughts?
ForgeNHammer

I'd wait for the trimmer.  Not too many horses are ever sore from too much foot.
