Wild mustang taming the old lady's way :-)This is how wild horse taming should look.
Not quite the spectator sport that the 'do it all in three days' guys go about it, of course.

It is a gal in New Mexico named Patricia.
I'll see if I can find her website address.
She has a training facility and does a lot of work gentling and training mustangs. Uses clicker training mostly, although I think she does do some natural horsemanship type stuff as well. Really neat lady.

Did you notice how the mare in the lane-way hid behind her foal? Was she letting him take the risks first or was she just okay with the 'old lady' energy.

How awesome! I remember that's all we did with Diesel when he first came here. He was somewhat 'wild' from being loose in 20 acres for a year, but now he is so trusting. He's come such a long way and we were so patient with him.
It's so cool to see others taking the time and patience to get a horse to trust them! I definitely like that way better than '3-day Horse Taming.' Or something like that.

I'd find a bigger area more comfortable to work in, so the horse(s) have more choice on how close they feel they want to be and know they can move away if they want.

So would I. I've seen tame mares attack people to protect their foals. I think that is a pretty tight area to be in with a 'trapped mare and her foal.'
