Winter Health Care

Here is a nice article on winter health care for horses...

Great great article.

I am not a fan of waterers.  I want to know exactly how much everyone is drinking because that's a big piece of the colic formula.

We don't have the heated tanks or stall buckets out of storage yet and that's a record.  That's ok, my brother and 15 yr old nephew will help with that when they get here (after driving 600 miles) - they just don't know that yet, lollol

Most of us are responsible horse people who put equine health in front of our own. But remember, if you’re not healthy, you won’t be able to care for your horse. When tending to your horsekeeping tasks this winter, stay warm, stay safe and stay healthy because there’s someone counting on you every day."

If I ever have to spend a week in the hospital my two metabolic horses may not survive; Mr. WTW thinks he should feed them full of cookies because it makes HIM feel better.  When he feeds the dogs table scraps and they wake me up at 2:00 AM to go outside, I am always diligent  about making enough noise to wake him up and hopefully he has as much trouble getting back to sleep as I do
