Zyia's first timeKellsey's arab mare is a very sensitive horse and not one to trust too easily. Today was the first time that she's talked to me.
Today she wanted to be let out of the donkey pasture because she was hot. She walked up the hill, got eye contact with me, looked at the gate real hard, looked back at me and bobbed her nose. Well you know that's driving game. Her mood wasn't demanding, it was an ask but had an urgent feel to it. I knew exactly what she wanted, jumped up, told her I'd get the gate for her and she threw me a snaky neck. She was very hot, put a wiggle on it. As I headed for the gate, she looked at my mare, Bit and Bit's head came up. Zyia bobbed her head at Bit, and Bit hurried up the hill to join her out the gate and over to the shade tree.
The cool thing was, she talked to me the same way she talked to Bit, like a horse. Hawkie does the same thing, he talks right to ya. No wonder arabians are good with humans.

today Peepa (Kelsey's nick name for Zyia) wanted a fly mask. My horses still get fly masks every day, but Kelsey hasn't been lately. Quinn and Hawk don't like them. She came up, looked me in the eye, I brushed the flies away from her eyes, she rubbed her head on my chest, walked over to a tree, buried her head in the branches resting her head on the truck and then looked at me. It was pretty clear, I want a mask! She's still talking slowly, lots of sign language, but she's talking.
I'm not feeling really well, some kind of flu like thing. I was so cold today and walked out to the donkey sand beach and lay down in the warm sand. It was in the low 80's, so I know I'm sick. The mini donk's both walked over and lay down right next to me. I swear, they are like cats. They know when you are sick.
Speaking of which, our indoor kitty hasn't left my side. Been mostly in bed, and he's been right there. Remember that kitty that stays with the people in the hospice when they are dying? I think most kitties know when you aren't feeling that well. All my cats have slept with me until I was able to get up and about. I think it's a cat thang.

I am more or less over it. Some of the people I know have been really sick. I wasn't but it's been 2 weeks for me. Actually took naps on the floor at work on my lunch hour - set my computer to make a really loud obnoxious noise at 1:00. Hope you are better soon.
