I live in Texas with my hubby, son, and baby #2 on the way.

I have one grade gelding, Ace, who is my Parelli levels horse working on finishing up level 3 and working on level 4 stuff (on the ground).  Due to being pregnant, the riding part has been on hold.  He is mainly a RBE.

My other horse is a breeding stock APHA mare that I used to show.  She'll be starting through the Parelli levels after the baby is born.  She is a RBI.

My third equine is my donkey Skeeter.  He is Ace's best bud and playmate.  LBI working on level 1 as time allows.

Thanks for the warm welcome!  It is nice to see so many familiar faces (or should I say avatars, LOL)!  I am pregnant with baby #2 which will be due August 8th, so progressing with my horses is pretty much on hold until the baby is born.  We find out next Friday if it will be a boy or girl!  I've really been too sick to do much of anything and too sick to mess much with my horses, so I've been taking this time to doing lots of reading on the internet to learn more horse stuff.  It's a never ending process!

So did you find out what you are having??

I am due at the end of June with my first baby and we just found out its a girl.     My husband is so excited he still has not stopped smiling. Its pretty cute.

I havent really gotten to ride as much as I would have liked too but I was really sick for the first 4 months and so I felt like by the time I was able to ride again my horses had sat too long to just go start riding again. But I am finally feeling good enough to play a little bit online and liberty stuff.  Dont you just want to climb on so bad???

Congratulations Supertrooper!  I find out Friday if it is a boy or girl.  I wasn't that sick with my first.  This time it is like having a bad stomach virus 24/7, so we're thinking it might be a girl.  Either one would be fine with us.  I just think the world of my son, so part of me would like to have another boy.  We'll see!

It just kills me to have to put my horse journey on hold!!!  I used to ride two hours or so a day and all weekend.  Showing every other weekend or so.  When I was pregnant with my son it all came to a halt which I thought was fine, because I'd be back to riding like I was before after he was born.  But, nope!  I wasn't able to do anything with my horses until after my son went to bed or on the weekends and it was dark by the time my son was in bed for half the year.  It got to the point that I was spending all my free time doing horse maintenance, so I sold all my horses down to the two I have now that I would never sell and my gelding's donkey.

My hubby put lights on my arena late last summer, so I was finally able to work my horses regularly.  (Good hubby!!! )  But, we decided to have another baby, so I was pregnant in November.  Everything again has come to a halt.     I'm finally starting to feel better, so on my good days I'll do a little ground work but mostly just spend undemanding time with my horses.  I don't ride when I'm pregnant . . . it feels weird.

My horses are out of shape and for the most part have just been pasture pets for the last 4 years.  They LOVE all the undemanding time though, and I have still grown quite a bit as a horse person through watching savvy club DVD's, horse training shows on RFDTV, and especially with watching the L&HB DVD set.  The nice thing is the time off with watching all the natural horsemanship stuff seems to have reprogrammed my brain from some of the old traditional training habits I had.  This baby will be our last, so I'm really looking forward to getting back into a regular routine with my horses!!!  After the baby is a year old, I plan on going to a Chrisit Reins weekend clinic with my gelding.  I can't wait!

Yeah, I felt like I had the 24/7 flu too. For the most part I stayed curled in a ball thinking:
(1) Why in the world would somebody do this more than once??
(2) How could I do it again while taking care of another baby?? So kudos to you on keeping going and taking care of your son as well. My poor hubby had to fend for himself, tend to me and my horses for quite awhile there. With his job he gets off at 2pm everday so I am hoping that after the baby is born it will be easy to let him take a turn while I go play. He knows I need my horse time to stay sane. I think one of the things that has made it easier is that it is so hard to do much in winter around here. When my morning sickness first hit we were having the most beautiful fall weather and it was soooo depressing to not be able to get out there.

I finally figured out that my bad morning sickness was a lack of B-6 in my system. I started taking a B-Complex and it went away within a day.  I still have never gotten that second trimester 'burst of energy' and I just found out that I am extremly anemic as well. I am sure that did not help the morning sickness either.

I was thinking that the pregnancy would not effect my riding time at all but that has just not been the case. It does feel weird. And its really not worth it if something were to happen.

I had hosted a Helen Topp clinic last year and have her rescheduled to come again in July. Soooo I wont be riding in that clinic since it is 11 days after my due date. Bummer deal. But Oh well, I will hopefully get to take lots of notes.

I know I will love my baby and it will be soooo worth it but it will be so nice to get back to my horses again. Hubby made a comment that we should just have the next one right off that bat and get it over with. My response was less than enthusiastic.

(1) I think if I felt this bad the first time there wouldn't be a second, LOL!  We only planned on two, so luckily I won't have to go through this again.  Actually, it is all worth it, and I would have gone through it again to have a second!     Each pregnancy is different though, so you might not be sick at all with the second.

(2) I think it would have been really hard to go through all this with a young baby.  My son is 3 1/2 right now and is really good about entertaining himself when needed, so that made it easier.  Although, if I had to do it over again, I would have had them back to back, so I could have gotten back to my horse journey faster.

My hubby had to take over all the usual chores including taking care of the horses too.  I couldn't have made it through this without him.  Your hubby getting off at 2 PM will be nice!  I had to laugh about your saying your hubby knows that horse time keeps you sane.  My husband and I refer to my horse time in the same way, LOL!  My husband isn't a horse person, but he knows what they do for me and is very supportive of my need to have horse time.

The weather right now is beautiful, and it is killing me not to be able to take advantage of it.  I noticed this morning that grass is even starting to grow in my arena.    With my first pregnancy, I thought I'd keep riding, but it didn't take long for it to feel weird.  I agree too that it's really not worth the risk.
