Thank you! I have to try and find out about that one.
I email the link to Debi, so it can be fixed. Thank you for your eyes! |

Glad I could help. Man, these stories are heartbreaking. I'll definitely keep checking these links.
Where can I go to find out how to protect my horse? _________________ Alexandria & Dakota "Dun horse, magic horse, come when I call you!" Thundering hooves, flying mane, the dun horse came.

NetPosse.com sells a wonderful book called,
Horse Theft, Been There--Done That
by Debi Metcalfe.
I have signs in English and Spanish to explain that my horses are microchipped and meat is not safe to consume....due to chemicals.
Locks on gates.
Not keeping trailer and truck ready to go.
No halters on the horses or readily available.
Locking your trailer, truck and tack rooms.
Lights.
Check your fences.
A really good thing is to take picture so all sides of your horse or horses every 3 to 6 months...especially Spring and Fall. They changed in appearance.
Note, identifying characteristics specific to your horse, a brand, scar, spot, etc. Take pictures.
Keep the pictures on a CD.
Have someone take a picture of you with your horse(s) and then, have someone take a picture of you with a friend with your horse(s)...this gives a witness of ownership.
Keep copies of coggins, bills of sales, etc.
NetPosse.com has a copy of all my records, so if I lose something...they are my back up.
I own my own scanner to keep on me to prove it is my horse or some else's horse or dog. It reads all frequencies.
I own my brand and have it registered with my state and licensed and court approved through the county judge. State laws vary on brands.
Take pictures of your saddles, trailers, anything for that CD.
whorls..where are they on your horse?
Lots of things the book helps with...it is a good read. To help you if you ever need it.
But, it's a being prepared. Nice to know it is there if I need it.
I hope this helps, without scaring you.

Thanks.
BTW, I met a lady from Oregon, who told me horse thief never occurs in the northeastern states just last week at RTTH. Never say never. It happens. I try to tell her that rural areas tend to get it just as easy as boarding barns. _________________ A Good Apple Pie. II Corinthians 4:16-18 |
