I know some of you are thinking, soooooo....But my back just doesn't allow that kind of activity, until today! It was great! Eclipse was perfect! I mean, PERFECT! We negotiated a little, but she fell right into a perfect ride, and walked calmly all the way home! Now Bit? Haven't ridden her since Dec when we went down to do cows. She got three rides last year, and none for three years before that? She was not rideable today when I got her saddled up, and my friends horse was not very rideable, so we did ground work for two miles! Then we rode home and both horses did great! Bit was soft, supple and listened!
It's been a long road, figuring out what both horses need, not rushing them, getting mad, frustrated, or giving up. Not saying I totally get this, but feeling better about things. Can you believe it was almost 70 today? It's Feb!!!!!! What a great winter! _________________ "It was once said I should clear my head for one cannot ride a Thoroughbred. Hot they are. That is great. We got to 66 today. I had to take my longjohns off! I worked four horses today. It was wonderful. _________________ Carol Nudell

Sounds like a wonderful day Deb.
U2 Carol.
Your weather was very different than ours. Sunny, beautiful AM, then wind and clouds, THUNDER, Lightening, Rain, hail, then snow since around 3pm. Had all 4 seasons in one day. Weird. _________________ -Becky

Rode yesterday with friend and Eclipse maintained a slow, soft mosey all the way home! Even when the morgan trotted off and left us, doing her barn sour dance, Eclipse maintained her soft, mosey home. She cantered beautifully, gaited when asked, and gave me softness and a least one ear the whole time. She's getting a break today. Tomorrow? WE RIDE! _________________ "It was once said I should clear my head for one cannot ride a Thoroughbred. Hot they are. And too fast they be. Forever on the fly. Woohoo Deb!!!! Can't ask for better than that.
Strider is getting his re-check on Monday and I am hoping we can stop with the re-hab riding - we are both pretty tired of it. Although we have not finished the program yet; I am plain old not sound enough. Depending on what the vet says, I may have to pay someone to do the last 4 weeks. |

Yesterday trailered out to my friends barn with the neighbor and her horse, Bea. We played on the cross country course and then headed for the road that loops around for about 5 miles. Eclipse was giving me a great fox trot, and then shook her head. Found myself gaiting down this road, bridless! lol! I just held on to the reins and we kept going. Always wanted to do that! I gotta get a throat latch! _________________ "It was once said I should clear my head for one cannot ride a Thoroughbred. Hot they are. And too fast they be. Forever on the fly. LOL, bit.
Sounds like another fun day of riding!
Glad everything went well, even without a bridle. _________________ ~Mary
